A COUPLE have shared the moment they made a shocking discovery after moving into their new home.
Josh and his other half Emily hated the dirty, dated carpet in their new residence, so they decided to pull it up in the hopes that there would be something usable underneath.
They documented the process in a video on his TikTok page, as he said, “We’re going to pull up the carpet for the first time and hope there’s a nice floor.”
He then began peeling back the layers of carpet and underlayment to reveal the floor beneath, and his partner couldn’t hide her delight at seeing what appeared to be parquet.
As he continued to reveal the floor, she screamed with excitement as she realized it was the coveted diamond parquet.
“This is crazy!” Josh said, while Emily could be heard in the background exclaiming that it was “really good quality too.”
Josh also added that he thought the parquet went from that room to the living room, since everything had the same carpet.
“This was the moment we saw the floor for the first time,” they captioned the video.
Parquet flooring is known for being expensive and homeowners can expect to pay upwards of £2,000 for a small room.
Given that Josh and his other half appear to have floors in two large rooms, it would probably cost thousands to put it up.
The price increases depending on the type of wood used in the floor, and one person even speculated that it looked like walnut – one of the most expensive materials.
People were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: “You fell into the lottery!!!!”
“This is extremely phenomenal!!!” another added.
“OMGGGGG,” commented a third.
“That’s so hot!!!” someone wrote.
“My partner and I just moved and I want WOODEN floors, if I see this I’m going to cry!
“Very happy for you!”
“You didn’t just find gold – this is finding diamonds,” commented another.
“It’s beautiful!”
“I would never stop crying. They are so beautiful,” said another person.
