They explained that the Api Tap Water Conditioner for $7 Keeps hair healthy with chlorinated water.

“I have [had] good success with Aquarium Tap Water conditioner containing sodium thiosulfate. (e.g. API, Amquel, Tetra, etc.), they said.

To begin, they simply placed a fourth teaspoon of the solution in a glass of tap water.

“I dipped my ponytail in it to get the hair fully saturated and then poured it over my roots,” they said.

“Being careful to never get it in my eyes! I started this routine over 20 years ago for my blonde summer boy on the swim team, whose hair became unkempt, green, shiny and brittle.

“It worked so well that several teammates also used this mixture.”

They explained that other products they tried didn’t have nearly the same results.

“I tried Malibu C and all types of leave-in conditioners to no avail,” they said.

“The conditioners simply rinsed out in the pool and dirty the filters.”

After several swimming sessions, the technique has proven to be tried and true.

“I currently swim for an hour three to four times a week,” they said.

“I pre-treat my (colored) hair and do a new treatment at the end of the swim.

“Then I wash and condition as usual. I don’t need a lot of conditioner anymore.

“I’m growing out my gray and it’s not turning green.”

The trick, they added, also works on pets.

“I also use it on my dogs. They love to swim, but the chemicals and/or compounds they attach themselves to irritate their skin,” they said.

“I keep a jar of the solution to pour on their torso and legs when they get out of the pool.

“I carefully keep it away from their eyes!! I also keep a solution in a spray bottle, which works well for reaching the hard-to-rinse belly.

“I mentioned this practice to my health care providers and they did not warn against it, but they also did not bless it.

“Our vet agreed with this. I don’t have sensitive skin or any allergies, and I don’t know if this needs to be considered. It was the hero of a tender-headed child’s hairbrush in our house, and the bright green hair has never been a problem again. problem. Hope this helps.”
