He said: “When you realize that two years ago two guys got the same woman pregnant at the same time, and now you are the father of twins.”

The post left people scratching their heads, and within hours it racked up an impressive 2.8 million views.

TikTok users rushed to the video’s comments section to share their confusion over Eric’s comment.

One person said: “I’m extremely confused!”

A second person said: “Well… someone explain to me why I’m lost.”

A third person said: “Sir… do I ask your forgiveness?”

A fourth person added: “This sounds like a soap opera.

“It takes a plot twist like yours.”

In a second video, Eric clarified things, with an explanation.

He said, “Story time about how my husband and I got the same woman pregnant at the same time while her husband was in the room watching.”

I’m a mother of Irish twins – I got pregnant just six weeks after giving birth

Eric explained that he and his husband were unsuccessful in adopting a child, so they decided to choose surrogacy.

They found an egg donor and when she did the retrieval, half of the eggs went to Eric and the other half went to his husband.

The eggs were then fertilized, genetically tested and then frozenwhile the couple waited to find a replacement.

When they found a surrogate, Eric and her husband were in the room when the embryos were transferred into her uterus and she became pregnant.

What is surrogacy?

Surrogacy is the name given to a type of pregnancy in which a woman carries and gives birth to someone else’s baby.

The surrogate mother is then expected to give up the baby at birth so that it can be raised by the couple who originally wanted it.

Surrogacy is often an option for those who cannot have children or for same-sex couples.

According to the rent charity Childlessness is overcome through surrogacy (COTS)There are two different types of surrogacy.

  • Traditional surrogacy: When the surrogate uses her own egg fertilized with the intended father’s sperm.
  • Gestational Surrogacy: The surrogate carries the genetic child of the intended father, conceived through in vitro fertilization, for which specialist doctors are required.

How are surrogate babies conceived?

In traditional surrogacy procedures, the egg is artificially inseminated with a syringe.

Gestational surrogacy is performed through in vitro fertilization.

During this in vitro fertilization process, the egg is removed from the woman’s ovaries and fertilized with sperm in the laboratory.

The embryo is then planted in the surrogate’s uterus to grow and develop.

This procedure must be carried out by specialist doctors and the biological mother must still have functional ovaries.

The embryos then grew into twins, one genetically Eric’s and the other genetically her husband’s.

This means that biologically the two twins are half-siblings.

Eric said: “Technically, there was DNA from three different people inside her at the same time.

“Her husband had the best sense of humor in the world, seeing as his wife was pregnant with two babies from two different men.”
