A HOMEOWNER has shared a trick for blowing up a kiddie pool without using an air pump.
They explained that they were able to make a DIY tool using a common household device.
Editor Last2theParty shared the handy homemade trick in a post.
“[I] I needed an air pump to blow up the children’s pool”, they explained.
The problem, however, was that they did not have an air pump available.
That didn’t stop them from taking a much-needed swim, however.
“MacGyvered this bad boy,” they said, showing off the “bomb” they created with a hairdryer.
They revealed that they cut a water bottle in half and glued it to the mouth of the hairdryer to create a temporary air pump.
Some viewers were initially hesitant about the project.
“Won’t this get hot and eventually melt the plastic?” asked one.
“Or is there just a cold air setting?”
Some thought the strategy might work if the air wasn’t too hot.
“Hair dryers come with several settings, including a ‘cool’ setting that blows pure air without heating,” replied one viewer.
“I suspect the ‘low’ setting on this one is just the cool setting.”
The Redditor confirmed they were both correct: “Yes, it’s that little gray button,” they said.
“I didn’t notice it at first and it melted the bottle a little, but it still worked.”
Others praised them for thinking quickly.
“That’s what you call a Big Brain,” said one impressed spectator.
“So, being smart!” said another.
Others said the temporary solution could bring more benefits than an air pump.
“Killing mold at the same time! I loved it!” said one.
“It might even be quieter than the air pump you had before!” said another.
