They shared: “Today we hit the jackpot on our house renovation.

“Our hallway had some damp coming through the door…underneath the carpet and rotten laminate, we found amazing flooring.”

Abbie shared how the hallway had beautiful tiles that looked like they were from the Victorian era.

She added: “If these are original Victorian tiles then they have been here since 1990.

“Now we need to figure out how to restore them to their original beauty.

“They are covered in glue and paint and damaged in some places, but we are so excited to get them cleaned up and looking nice again.”

His video was liked more than 287 thousand times and people were very impressed with the discovery.

One of them said: “Beautiful! I found woodworm under mine.

A second person wrote: “Why anyone would cover this is beyond me.”

However, a third commented: “I’ll never know why people love the tiles!”

A specialist in Doctor Azulejo told how he manages to restore Victorian tiles back to their former glory.

He wrote: “To remove all the dirt from the pores of the tiles I first applied a strong dilution of Tile Doctor Remove and Go and after leaving it to soak for ten minutes I rubbed it with a black pad.

“I also used a steam cleanser during this process to help remove dirt from the pores.

“I then moved on to the loose tiles that needed to remove the old adhesive from the tile and base.

“The original tiles were then cleaned by hand before a new quick-fix adhesive was applied to secure them back to the floor.”

He then uses an acid rinse to further clean the rules, removing old grout stains.

The professional concluded: “Then the floor was rinsed again and the dirt was removed with a wet vacuum cleaner before leaving it to dry overnight.”

Four cheap tricks for renovating homes

YOU don’t have to spend a lot to give a room a new look. Here are five other home improvement hacks you can try.

Kitchen cabinets

One way to completely transform your kitchen for less is to change the look of your kitchen cabinets. There are several different vinyl sidings to choose from, and it’s a quick and easy way to update your home.

Handles

Another thing you can try that won’t cost much is changing the straps. You can buy relatively cheap straps from DIY stores or even charity shops. Adding new ones to your kitchen cabinets or doors in your home can be extremely effective.

Leftovers

Most of us have old, half-used paint cans in the garage, but they are often forgotten. However, there may be enough in the vase to paint a wall in another room and you won’t need to spend a dime.

Gifts

It’s worth checking out your local Facebook Marketplace, or Freecycle, to see what other people are getting rid of. As they say, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. And if someone is planning to renovate a room, they may want to get rid of a sofa or coffee table, which you can use to give the lounge a new look.
