A DEVASTATED woman has shared the heartbreaking story of her husband refusing to spend money on her IVF treatment.

In the heated discussion, the man she had been married to for 13 years told how her infertility was her medical problem, she needed to finance it herself.

However, this is not the only bizarre thing that was said that night.

Sharing the devastating story with a group of parents online, the woman explained that despite having been pregnant “for so long”, they “couldn’t do it”.

The Redditor continued: “A friend of mine suggested we try IVF, and I told my husband.

“He agreed to the suggestion, but the cost made him hesitate. IVF sessions are expensive, but we can afford them.

“My husband said he wasn’t sure if we should go this route. He pointed out that one session is not guaranteed and that we would have to pay for more.

”Again I mentioned how he and I can pay with our combined money, he looked at me intently and then told me that “logically” since I am the cause of infertility so he thought I should bear the costs of IVF sessions alone.”

The husband, who said this “to my face”, added that he did not feel “obligated to pay” for her ”medical issues”.

After completely losing control, the anonymous woman packed her belongings and ran out of the house to be with her mother.

Despite receiving a harsh message from him saying “the truth hurts”, the woman’s family blamed her for “ignoring his feelings and that he has the right to open up”.

Seeking advice from other Internet users, she asked herself, “Did I overdo it?”

Unconventional family: Ruth’s story goes viral

Unsurprisingly, commenters were empathetic to the woman and assured her that she responded more than appropriately.

One wrote: “This is one of the most horrible things I have ever seen written on these panels.

”Be glad he showed you this side of himself before you had a child with him.”

Others echoed the sentiment, with another person writing: “No, you didn’t overreact.

“Your husband’s comments were incredibly offensive and insensitive. It’s a shared journey, not just her “medical issue.”

”You deserve support and understanding, not blame.”

A third chimed in: “Your husband violated his marriage vows in the most egregious way possible – he violated the “in sickness and in health” clause. He showed his true face.

How much does IVF cost in the UK?

IF you’re hoping to have a baby, IVF could be the right path for you – but there’s a lot to know and understand before you start.

If you’re not eligible for NHS treatment, you can visit a private clinic – this is often “very expensive”, according to specialist Rachel Fitzd.

“On average it costs between £2,500 and £5,000 WITHOUT any extras. Add blood tests, exams, etc. and the price goes up,” she said.

This is just for one cycle of treatment – and in some cases, you may need more.

“The expense can increase more and more with each additional treatment,” she warned.

Rachel asked to go shopping, “but be careful when traveling abroad.”

“There may not be the same regulations in place to protect you,” she explained.

”What will he say if you have cancer???? “Oh, honey, I’m not contributing to your chemo…your cancer is YOUR problem.”

Among the post’s readers, there was no support for the husband, with some advising the woman only one solution – to break up with him.

“You’re dodging a bullet. Do you really want to have children with this man?

”The next thing you know is you would have a child and he would do nothing for them, claiming they came out of his body so they are his responsibility.

“Divorce looks good from this perspective.”
