A WOMAN has hit back at cruel trolls who say she would be “embarrassed” by the diamond in her promise ring.

Growing in popularity, the sentimental promise ring is a symbol of commitment to a promise, whether in a romantic or platonic relationship.

In the context of lovebirds, this delicate piece of jewelry is typically considered a sort of “pre-engagement” ring, experts at H.Samuel.

One person who recently received a stunning promise ring from her partner is fellow Australian Lyla McPherson from Perth.

Delighted with the delicate embellishment around her finger, the stunner took to TikTok to proudly show off the sparkling jewels – however, the reaction was brutal.

In the video now viralwhich has racked up over 3 million astronomical views, Iyla zoomed in to show just how sparkling the mini diamond was.

The highlight of the jewelry was a thin gold ring, accessorized with a beautiful miniature diamond.

“If he wanted to, he would,” Iyla captioned the clip, alongside an adorable heart emoji.

Unfortunately, the comments section was full of vicious trolls and haters, more than 8,000 of which rushed to attack the boyfriend.

One rude person, for example, mocked the size of the jewelry, writing, “I would be embarrassed.”

Another chimed in: “Let me get my glasses.”

“Where?” asked someone who joked, indicating that they were struggling to see the delicate ring.

Fortunately, it wasn’t all brutal comments, as hundreds of people came together to hit back at the brutal trolls, remembering that the size or style of the ring doesn’t determine the level of happiness – or love.

”My boyfriend gave me an engagement ring that size. This year will be our 40th wedding anniversary,” said one person.

A woman chimed in: “I had a huge diamond engagement ring, now we’re divorced.”

A third laughed: “All these haters don’t have any diamonds. Congratulations!”

After taking over the platform, Iyla also had something to say to critics in a subsequent video.

”It’s a promise ring, not an engagement ring.

How much money should be spent on an engagement ring?

By fabulous digital editor and bride-to-be Josie Griffiths…

Ask anyone how much money to spend on an engagement ring and most will repeat “two to three months’ salary.”

But this isn’t a centuries-old tradition – it actually comes from a De Beers ad that dates back to the 80s – with the sole aim of getting men to spend more money.

I got engaged last April, and as for how much my fiancé spent on the ring, I don’t know how much and I honestly don’t care.

There’s a lot of pressure on people (especially men, but not always) to get proposals right these days.

And with many couples getting married only 5 or even 10 years into their relationship, I think most girlfriends who are patiently waiting for a proposal would rather their partner buy a cheaper ring than put things off further while they save up.

Of course, if you’re going to wear it for the rest of your life, it’s important that you like the way it looks.

But the size of the diamond is definitely not related to the strength of the relationship. I know women who have rings so big that they feel insecure wearing them. And divorce rates among billionaires are a whopping 49%.

While I don’t agree with the three-month salary rule, I think it’s important that the diamond matches the income – no one should go broke buying a ring, especially when you still have a wedding to pay for.

And there’s always the option of upgrading your ring to mark a special anniversary – when money is a little less tight.

Let’s give this poor guy a break. As some people said in the comments, a ‘small’ ring is better than none – and it’s still a very expensive gift.

”It fits me – we size.” I just have fat sausage fingers.

“It’s not an engagement ring – that’s why it’s not a huge diamond.

“But if you know how much diamonds cost, you know it would still be a lot of money,” said the Australian.

”Especially for someone who is […] 19, I’m 18.

“Stay mad, keep commenting hateful comments – because you’re just boosting my TikTok,” added Iyla, who posts under the username @lyla_macpherson06.
