Relationships can be difficult at the best of times, and depending on which statistics you believe, 30% to 50% of all marriages end in divorce.

Communication plays a vital role in maintaining a healthy marriage and the way we express ourselves to our partners can increase the longevity of our relationships.

While there are many reasons why a couple would separate and divorce, according to private investigator Aaron Bond of Bond Rees Private Investigations There are clear signs that indicate the end of a relationship.

Aaron says: “Our team has worked on over 15,000 relationship cases and within minutes it becomes clear whether a couple is going to make it or not.”

And it all starts with how they greet each other.

1. Greetings

“The way a couple greets each other is one of the biggest indications of whether they will stay together.

“This can be observed 30 seconds after watching the couple interact.

“Instead of offering a warm and welcoming greeting, if you begin your interaction by complaining or criticizing each other, it suggests there are problems in the relationship.”

Small actions when the other half isn’t looking can also be dangerous for a relationship.

“Lack of respect shown through eye rolling is something we have seen spells disaster for a relationship as well.

It shows contempt for a person rather than love, and it’s only a matter of time before the relationship is in shambles.”

“When one partner rolls their eyes at another, it signals dismissal or superiority and is a clear sign that they are not taking their partner’s feelings or opinions seriously,” warns Aaron.

two. Verbal cues

The way we talk to our partners can affect our relationship. Using absolute terms to describe their actions in a negative way can make them feel terrible and resentful.

Aaron says: “If you or your partner use terms like all the time, always, never, nobody, nobody and never, for example ‘why do you always burn our food, can’t you do anything right?’

“Then your relationship might be in trouble.”

3. Rock wall

Some arguments need to be abandoned to give both partners time to cool down.

This is normal, but if you or your partner consistently withdraws from interaction, there’s a good chance your relationship is about to end.

Aaron says: “Stonewalling is when a partner withdraws from communication and shuts down.

“This can be anything from avoiding eye contact, giving short and quick answers, or completely ignoring the other person, sometimes for days at a time.”

“Blocking can sometimes be normal when a person feels overwhelmed, but consistent blocking is harmful to a relationship as it prevents problems from being resolved.

“This creates emotional distance between partners and can make both parties feel lonely and isolated.”

“While you might think that stopping communication can calm a situation, the opposite is often true,” he continued.

“When one partner stops communicating, the other may feel the need to engage, which can lead to heated arguments and violence.”
