A WAG boasted she secured her sportsman husband by making him jealous of another man.

Kelly Stafford admitted she dated her husband’s “backup” when he refused to commit to her – and she did it to deliberately “annoy” him.

His tactic clearly worked, however.

The 35-year-old married football pro Matthew Stafford, 36, in 2015 and the pair share four children.

“At first, I hated him,” she revealed on Off the vine podcast.

“I loved him.

“I dated to spite him, which worked.

“He was also the bad boy.

“Like, Matthew is so kind and such a Southern gentleman and all this stuff, and the support was completely the opposite.”

Kelly bragged about how her tactic “upset” her now-husband, as he lived in the same building as his love rival so would see her car parked outside.

“At one point he waited and followed me and got in my car and wouldn’t get out,” she shared.

“I was like, ‘This is amazing, it’s working!’”

England’s new Wags ready to conquer Euro 2024

Kelly and Matthew met at the University of Georgia in the early ’90s.

He now plays for the Los Angeles Rams of the US National Football League and earns a salary in excess of £30 MILLION a year.

NFL WAG Kelly has since received criticism following his confession.

“Imagine your wife, who you are completely babysitting on a podcast, gushing about how another guy used to beat her,” said one reviewer on Instagram.

“Some things shouldn’t be talked about in public,” criticized another. “She made her husband look weak and cowardly.”

Others claimed the behavior was “terrifying” and suggested the husband “could have done better.”

Kelly has since taken to Instagram to respond to the criticism.

“If this didn’t affect other people, I wouldn’t even bring it up,” she wrote in her story.

“It was so comical the way things were twisted.

“It was 16 years ago.

“If you asked Matthew and me if we would change anything we did back then… no.

“But we appreciate the laughs.”
