It’s not actually doing anything dirty with your partner – or is it?

If you’ve put sunscreen on someone you like, knowing that your partner and theirs aren’t there or are looking the other way, you might know you’re being a little cheeky.

But it’s just a slap and no tickling, right? Cool and isn’t it naughty? Hmm.

Likewise, have you ever thought about hopping on a lilo with that sexy person who isn’t your significant other, buying a Christmas cocktail or getting up close for a cheeky selfie?

Welcome to the torturous world of micro-cheating, where the latest research suggests that 84 PERCENT of supposedly coupled people have broken up, well, just a little, briefly uncoupled.

Deer and chicken

Called it what it is, the term means flirting with someone while someone else does the talking for you — and honestly, many of us know we’re in the right place.

Or it would be if our darling knew – because nowhere is this subtle mischief more common than on boozy, sun-soaked stag holidays, where what goes on tour stays on tour.

Jéssica Leoni on a dating site for married couples illicitencounters.comwho did the latest research, says: “Posing for photos, buying a new friend’s drinks and inviting a group back to your villa all fall under the umbrella of micro-cheating.

“Being away from home, away from prying eyes, can make people more confident and this translates into appearing more attractive to the opposite sex.”

Once a micro-cheat, always a micro-cheat, it seems, as the survey found that 53% of those who confessed transgressed four or more times.

However, 59 percent felt that this did not count as cheating.

Oh, and it’s not limited to hen party fun – 47% of offenders admitted to doing no good in everyday life.

But Jessica is the forgiving type. She adds: “Deer and chickens are an escape from the stresses of normal life, and if things don’t progress to physical intimacy, this type of behavior shouldn’t bother partners at home.”

Alright then – but a word to the wise, here’s a charge sheet of the top ten micro-cheats:

  • The most common: flirting.
  • Invite someone you like into your room, platonically.
  • Buy a drink for that new friend you liked.
  • Posing for glamor photos with them.
  • Follow someone you’re attracted to on Instagram.
  • Buy a cheeky gift for that beauty who caught your eye.
  • Sharing a lilo on hol with someone who isn’t your usual boyfriend.
  • Buying dinner for a plate
  • Invite someone you find attractive to play holiday games.
  • Busying herself with sunscreen.
