A “FAT activist” in a romantic relationship, smaller man, has hit back at cruel trolls who insist mixed-weight couples are “unacceptable”.

Megan Ixim of New York, who has been dating her boyfriend, Todd, for some time, criticized critics who feel “uncomfortable with fat women having their love story.”

This comes after some people dubbed Netflix’s hit series Bridgerton “unrealistic” because of curvy actress Nicola Coughlan’s steamy scenes with fellow actor Luke Newton.

Sharing her thoughts, Megan said people shouldn’t describe couples as “mixed weights” as this only feeds the notion that relationships with plus-sized women are an “oddity” that doesn’t happen often – or directly. was ”unacceptable”.

In a chat with FEMAILthe content creator suggested this is deeply rooted in sexism – because relationships “in which the man is the larger partner don’t raise any flags.”

Recently, in a widely criticized opinion piece by Virgie Tovar in Forbes, the author said that the relationship between the two fictional characters “defied romance plot conventions” because the woman is “bigger” than her partner.

Megan said: “The term ‘mixed weight’ couples only exists because people are uncomfortable with fat women having their love story.

”We only see this term when it is applied in heteronormative relationships where the woman is bigger than the man because public relations in which the man is the bigger partner don’t raise any flags: just look at all the comedies from the 90s and 90s.

I think it is extremely important to portray loving and supportive relationships as a fat woman

”We are all in a “mixed” relationship, insert descriptive here – be it height, hair, race, gender, etc.

This term, she continued, “is used to make it seem like a fat woman having a romantic relationship is weird.”

Despite what the trolls have to say, Megan – who has an army of 112,000 fans on her page – they said they were ”prospering anyway”.

This isn’t the first time the social media star has bravely opened up about her life — speaking of HuffPostMegan explained that when she first joined dating apps in 2014, it was a negative experience.

Immediately, the 24-year-old was faced with a seemingly endless stream of insults or fetishization.

“They say there are millions of fish in the sea, but what they don’t tell you is that 95% of those fish are just waiting to insult or fetishize your entire existence in a single sentence.

She added: “When it’s still okay to openly hate fat people, why would I think random strangers would treat me with respect, especially when there are no consequences other than blocking and deleting?
