TIRED of pretending? You are not alone.

Going all the way with your partner is special, but it’s not always a level playing field.

On average, men across the UK experience 20% more orgasms than women during sex.

And it doesn’t end there – research shows that just a quarter (27%) of women cross the finish line alone weekly, compared to almost half (47%) of men.

This is known as the ‘orgasm gap’ and with National Orgasm Day coming up later this month, we’re on a mission to close it.

But it’s not just your sexual skill set that may need work. From wearing socks in the sack to painting the walls purple, Sun Sexpert Georgette Culley reveals quirky sex tips to make you scream yes, yes, yes!

Wear socks

The humble cotton number may seem like the least sexy item to wear when seducing your partner, but it can actually spice up your sex life, research shows.

Keeping your feet warm increases blood circulation throughout your body, including in all-important erogenous zones, increasing sensitivity and increasing your chances of crossing the finish line.

Perfect the temperature

When it comes to hitting the G-spot, temperature is key. You don’t want to feel too hot or too cold, as this can make you uncomfortable and ruin your chances of climaxing.

Experts believe the perfect room temperature is, say, 69 degrees Fahrenheit (20 Celsius).

So grab a thermometer and make sure the atmosphere is perfect before seducing your partner. It’s science, baby!

Cold shower

While we’re on the topic of temperature, a cold shower before sex can boost your libido, studies show.

Yes, you heard that right – cold water therapy can increase testosterone levels and improve sexual health, making it a win-win for both sexes.

So the next time you want to turn up the heat, skip the hot shower and take a cold one. You are welcome.

Paint the walls purple

Forget about painting the walls red! Purple is the really sexy color. In a survey of 2,000 adults, people’s amount of sex varied depending on the color of their bedroom and bedding.

People with purple bedrooms had sex about 3.49 times a week, followed by red (3.18), sky blue (3.14), pink (3.02) and black (2.99).

So grab a brush and go purple! You might end up getting lucky more often…

Have a cup

Most of us have a drink to relax between the sheets, but alcohol actually slows down the nervous system, making orgasm more difficult to achieve.

On the other hand, a good cup of tea or coffee revs up the nervous system. Studies show that caffeine can actually help men perform better in the bedroom by increasing testosterone levels and decreasing the chances of erectile dysfunction.

Go bananas

The phallic fruit has long been associated with sex — but it’s not all style and it’s not all substance.

Bananas are packed with nutrients, including potassium – which can increase the production of testosterone, the hormone that increases sex drive and helps you last longer in bed.

So next time you’re planning a hot night out, don’t forget to grab a banana or two.

Sleep naked

Getting rid of your comfy pajamas can really boost your sex life and deepen your bond with your partner.

Skin-to-skin contact increases the release of oxytocin, the love hormone, which helps reduce stress and increases intimacy.

Going naked can also lead to more spontaneous moments of passion, relieving pressure and potentially increasing your chances of orgasm. What’s not to love?

Have sex in your sheets

When you turn up the temperature in your bedroom, breathable sheets are essential. Natural or semi-natural materials such as cotton, bamboo, Tencel, modal, silk and linen are ideal.

Avoid 100% polyester sheets – they are hot and scratchy. And avoid synthetic sateen sheets—they’re slippery and terrible at absorbing sweat.

The more comfortable you are, the more likely you are to reach orgasm, according to research.

Washing

Scent is a game-changer in the bedroom, and we’re not just talking about your aftershave.

Lavender, the unsung hero, can help you relax, improve your mood, and decrease anxiety and depression—perfect for boosting libido and, yes, even improving erections, studies show.

Whether you opt for an aromatherapy burner or place a few drops of lavender oil under your pillow, you’ll be on your way to a more fragrant and, ahem, fruitful night.
