Even worse, she also received backlash from her family when she asked them for support after expressing her concerns about his plan.

She revealed that her sister’s boyfriend is planning to propose on her wedding day and that this would be part of his speech.

The bride went to her parents, who are paying for the wedding, but discovered that they were all “against” her and was also told that she was being “ungrateful”.

On the online forum Reddit, the bride wrote a post asking other users for advice.

She titled it: “I don’t want my sister’s boyfriend to propose to me on my wedding day.”

Then he continued: “But everyone is against me and my mother said I was ungrateful because my parents are paying for the wedding.

“The wedding is on Saturday and they told me that last Monday.

“That would be part of his speech.

“I said no.”

The bride then revealed that her mother suggested she act like she was tossing the bouquet but then hand it to her.

She continued: “So my mother suggested throwing the bouquet away. I would give it to her like on TikTok and he would propose. I said no.”

The bride’s mother then got mad at her and said it “wouldn’t steal” her party.

She adds: “My mum got mad when I still said please no, because that suggestion would have been at the end of my party anyway. And I wouldn’t steal from my party.

“I’m not good at writing these things down, so I’m sorry if I’m leaving out a lot of things, but I can’t stop crying.”

She then asked Reddit users if she was being unfair with her suggestion, as “sometimes I feel like I am, sometimes I feel like I’m not.”

The bride ends by writing: “I want to remain anonymous, so I will not answer questions about my location or names.”

The post caused a lot of reactions with more than 4,700 people sharing their opinions.

Many sided with the bride and were not in favor of the family’s opinions.

One wrote: “It’s incredibly selfish of your mother and sister’s boyfriend to hijack the day you’re the star and direct all the attention to someone else. It’s your day.

“You get it one day. He can propose at brunch the next morning if he wants…”

Clothing Etiquette for Wedding Guests

If you’re struggling to decide on a dress for wedding season, here are some rules on what not to wear so you don’t get into trouble.

  • Folklore says that wearing red to a wedding means you slept with the groom.
  • Casual attire like jeans and flip-flops should always be avoided.
  • Any color that can be chosen like white or cream – even if it isn’t.
  • Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered.
  • Wearing white is a big no-no if you’re not the bride.

Another added: “She should make a comment about how tacky and classless it is for people to propose to another wedding in her speech.

“Get the idea into people’s heads before it happens.”

A third suggested: “Get your husband to say in his speech how pleased he is that his beautiful wife is having her special day and anyone planning to ruin that by announcing babies, proposing marriage or even just football scores can go away now!

“So he’s going to look like an AH (an a**hole) if he does that.

“Also make sure the bouquet goes anywhere but your sister.

“And prepare the DJ to turn off the microphone if he tries. You need to fight fire with fire. Also, kick them out if they do this. Prepare security!
