Amazon’s July Prime Day sale is in full effect, with deep discounts on coveted essentials that can help improve your everyday life. And while other Yahoo editors are focusing on beauty, fashion, and technology (we also rounded up our favorite Prime Day deals across categories), I’m using the sale as an opportunity to tidy up my space.
More specifically, I plan to stock up on all the brands and products I use to run my household (i.e. I would buy them anyway). In Magic erasers that save furniture It is internet famous kitchen towels for soap refills and the odor eliminator that every home needs – not to mention some of the cutest Scrub Mommy sponges I’ve already seen it—keep reading for a list of my favorite cleaning deals on the internet (and be sure to add them to your cart before Amazon’s two-day Prime Day ends tonight).
Editor’s Picks: Prime Day Cleaning Deals
First: Magic Erasers. It took me forever to buy some, but now that I’ve been using them for a few years, I can’t imagine not having them in my house. Foam sponges are soft enough for more delicate surfaces like walls and wood furniture, but strong enough to get the job done (ahem, removing sauce or crayon). I recently had a mini panic attack when I thought pollen fallen from a bunch of lilies had stained my light oak dining table forever, and to my surprise, my magic erasers removed each yellow stain one by one.
Rub daddy – and mommy! – sponges have become my go-to for tougher messes (read: greasy pans, dirty tiles, and bath suds). They are gritty, soft and even easy to clean in the dishwasher. They are also a lot of fun. I bought the brand’s fall/Halloween assortment (six in total) for 25% off. At just $16 for six, they’re less than $3 a pop — about half the normal cost — and that’s assuming you can get them, as seasonal formats often sell out.
Mr. Siga’s highly-rated and often (ineffectively) duplicated cleaning cloths have earned a reputation—and a following of at least 84,000 Amazon customers—for their soft, durable, absorbent fabric and vibrant color range. I bought a pack on sale for almost half off to replace (or at least reduce) my paper towels as a way to avoid liquid messes and save money (and the environment) on disposable products.
As someone who works from home and loves to cook, I use a lot of laundry detergent. I like how this Seventh Generation is free and clear (no harsh fragrances or dyes) while still being able to handle the load at hand. I recently purchased a six-pack for just over $14—two dollars a bottle—so I won’t have to worry about running out of money for a while. (The brand It is are also on sale for when a deeper cleaning is needed).
Between kitchen and bathroom use, hand soap is another product I use frequently, with Mrs. Meyers’ biodegradable formula among my favorite products. Last time I checked, you could pick up a 48-ounce refill — about $2 a bar when you consider the brand’s usual 12-ounce serving sizes — of Lemon Verbena perfume, an amazing deal and a great idea for anyone looking to cut back. the number of disposable bottles going into the environment. I can also get one pack of three 25% off, or less than $4 a bottle, for travel and gifts.
Caldrea is a brand I trust to keep my kitchen beautiful and smelling fresh (their cleaning and room sprays are airy and bright). I’m currently running low on energy and I’m planning to change things up with Sweet Pea ( It is ) next. I love giving Caldrea housewares as birthday gifts – both as is and with other items in the baskets – so it’s also nice to have a few extras on hand.
If it were up to me, every bathroom would come (and remain) equipped with a bottle of Home- or Poo-Pourri (or two!). I like how the brand’s stink solutions actually break down—rather than just mask—air molecules and don’t leave any strange, overpowering smells (i.e., secrets) behind. I also try to keep some travel sizes in my weekend bag and everyday bag for the bathroom on vacation and to keep things stylish on the go.
I recently replaced large, clunky laundry detergent bottles in an attempt to preserve space in my small laundry room. If that sounds like you, or if you just want to do something solid for the environment, more than 7,000 Amazon reviewers say these power sheets from Arm & Hammer should do the trick. “Better than expected!” . “Excellent performance and ready to travel” . Get them for 40% off — or $9, less than 10 cents per load — and consider adding some or one to make the most of your machines too.
If you have Amazon Prime, you will get free shipping of course. Not a member yet? No problem. You can sign up for a 30-day free trial here. (And by the way, those without Better Plus get free shipping on orders of $25 or more.)
