The summer travel season is in full swing and we’re ready to pack our bags. Whether you’re hopping on a plane and leaving the country or simply driving to your favorite campsite for the weekend, you need the right luggage. And that’s where this crossbody comes in handy – and at a very reasonable price.

I recently embarked on an adventure through Italy, where I was able to test what buyers called “the perfect solution” for storage on the go: the Waterfly Crossbody Sling Backpack. And readers, I’m here to tell you that this bag is in fact ideal for day trips to theme parks, tourist attractions and more. Right now, you can get Amazon’s best-selling super sling for just $24.

Why is this a good deal?

Right now, you can score this travel companion for $24, down from $35 (don’t miss the coupon on the page), and I can tell you it’s worth it. It’s available in 20 colors, but we also haven’t seen this underbranded crossbody since January. (Note that prices vary by color.) Now’s the time to get one on a budget if you’re getting ready to hit the road.

Why do I need this?

That crossbody backpack it was the only “bag” I brought on our whirlwind trip around Italy – including Rome, Cinque Terre, Florence, and Pompeii – and it held up incredibly during our 10-day adventure. This is no small feat: it was quite rainy most of the time we were there, and on some days we walked 20,000 steps or more. The bag not only had to withstand humidity, but also the rigors of heavy use: I was constantly taking it on and off, adjusting the strap and opening it several times a day. I also had to carry enough items to last up to 12 hours of travel.

And folks: it did wonderfully.

Whether worn as a fanny pack or shoulder sling, this bag is more than ready for a day out. (Carrie McCabe for Yahoo/Amazon)

The real value here: the level of organization and storage space offered by such a sleek and compact bag. There are multiple compartments: a larger main zippered compartment, a slip pocket that closes with the bag, a small zippered compartment on the front, two side mesh water bottle holders, a small zippered pocket on the strap, and more. With all of this, I managed to stay prepared for anything. Some days I managed to pack a travel umbrella, reusable water bottle, wallet, passport, guide (Thanks, Rick Steves), snacks, sunglasses, shawl, Kindle, external battery and extra cables, headphones, iPhone, toiletries and medicines, selfie stick, and even more. Ufa! That’s a crazy amount considering the bag isn’t exactly huge, measuring 15 by 7 by 3.5 inches.

Oh yes: it was comfortable. The shoulder strap is well padded, but if your shoulder gets tired, the bag transforms into a fanny pack (not necessarily done to do this, but it works perfectly fine). It can also be washed easily – my trusty sugar-free Red Bull spilled into one of the pockets, but I simply washed the bag at the hotel and let it air dry, and the next day it was totally fine.

What the reviewers say

More than 30,000 Amazon reviewers also gave the Waterfly Crossbody Sling Backpack a five-star travel-ready rating, with many highlighting its size, compartments, and lack of bulk.

Pros

“I bought this bag for a trip to Universal Orlando with my son for his 11th birthday. This bag was perfect!” raved a buyer. “It contained everything we needed: snacks, ponchos, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, wipes, and even bottled water (I used 9-ounce S’Well bottles, which I highly recommend). I even put on a pair of plastic Birkenstocks one day so the bag on the strap fits my iPhone 15 Pro as well as my sunglasses.

A Disneyophile shared, “Based on several positive recommendations from various Disney blogs and discussion forums, I purchased this for my trip to Disneyland. It really was the perfect size, with enough storage to hold everything I needed. … You can place it on and off easily; with a quick change of the clips, you can switch which shoulder it’s on. It’s sturdy and keeps the inside contents dry in the rain or wet… I highly recommend this pack. , and it’s from someone who also owns other day packs from Osprey and Camelback.

“As a frequent traveler, especially now that I’m retired, finding the perfect suitcase for my needs has been a priority” wrote another fan. “This backpack has an impeccable design, striking the right balance between size and functionality. … It’s a reliable travel companion, making organization and accessibility easy.”

Cons

A Disney Dad gave the bag a five-star rating, but noted a few areas where even this fan favorite could be improved: “One: Add a flap, lock, elastic strap or something similar to the outer mesh bags so nothing falls out. Two: add a second clip (like the one for keys), buried in the ‘roof’ of the main bag or elsewhere so I can clip an Apple AirTag to it.”

Other buyer wrote: “It’s a great bag for traveling. My only wish is that the phone pocket on the strap could adjust its position.”

Amazon

The Waterfly has multiple compartments, including a front zip pocket, a mesh water bottle holder, and a phone pocket with a shoulder strap.
