The impressive new engine will rival the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and Audi E-Tron GT RS Performance.

The sleek design features frameless doors, oversized wheels, a distinctive hood and generous overhangs.

The next-generation EV features a custom architecture called AMG.EA, with an emphasis on speed and power.

The official image of the engine shows it undergoing testing near the Arctic Circle.

Experts predict the new engine will have a hefty price tag, possibly well into the six figures.

AMG states that the new model and its platform “are still at the beginning of a demanding and comprehensive test plan, which will cover several proving grounds, continents and climatic zones”.

Fans hope to learn more about the engine in the coming months.

Bosses at the German plant said the car will go on sale next year.

Five popular cars being discontinued in 2024

Mercedes discontinued the EQC from its retail offering with little fanfare.

There have been no significant announcements from the brand, with the model simply no longer available for purchase.

According to AutoExpressothe decision was made as the EQC struggled to keep up with newer competitors, including from Mercedes’ own lineup.

The model was introduced in 2019 with few rivals, but the pace of development in the electric SUV category has been brutal since then.

Virtually every major carmaker now offers some form of electric SUV or crossover, many of which have come in well below the Merc’s £74,000 price tag.

A smartphone maker is readying one of the world’s fastest EVs – just months after launching its first car.

Chinese electronics brand Xiaomi, best known for its lineup of smartphones, entered the bold world of EVs in March with its Speed Ultra 7, or SU7.

Now the ambitious brand is lining up the SU7 Ultra – a high-performance electric sedan with a top speed of 350 km/h and more power than a Bugatti Chiron, according to AutoExpresso.

The SU7 Ultra will be equipped with three electric motors that can produce 1,526 hp in total.
