A HOMEOWNER complained that parents kept blocking his driveway and leaving their children at school.
The resident tried to add an extra feature to his yard, but it made no difference to car owners.

Kentucky homeowner Michael Meyers filed complaints after parents at Audubon Traditional Elementary School continued to park in his driveway.
The parents chose to park on the resident’s property after facing long lines of cars.
While officers try to help parents find a more efficient way to drop off and pick up their children from school, neighbors like Michael say it has been frustrating to have vehicles on their property.
“From the driveway down there, through McKinley, up the hill below, there’s traffic,” Michael said. Wave.
Michael has lived near Audubon Traditional Elementary School for 10 years and expressed that school traffic has only gotten worse.
While he understands that traffic jams around the school are normal, the Kentucky resident wishes drivers would be more respectful of his property.
“They come, stop and block the sidewalks to the end,” he said.
Michael also revealed that drivers speed on his road.
He had previously contacted his Metro councilor in an effort to get them to install speed bumps.
However, Michael said that they refused to accept his request.
However, the owner continues to contact Metro Government and the school’s parent company, JCPS.
IGNORING THE SIGNS
In the meantime, Michael did everything he could to create a sign to keep cars out.
“Be considerate, don’t block the entrance,” Michael’s sign read.
However, the signs haven’t made much of a difference as parents continue to park in their neighbor’s garage.
“I mean, I was sitting here and I put the sign up, you know, looking right at the guy, you know, right there next to my garage,” Michael said.
Why is it illegal to block a driveway?
Blocking a driveway is illegal in the United States due to limiting access to emergency care.
In addition to being reckless, blocking a driveway is a serious safety hazard, cops say.
Blocking someone’s entryway is illegal in all 50 states, with fines and penalties varying by state.
For example, blocking a driveway in San Francisco, California can net a driver a hefty $286 towing fee and a $110 fine.
This does not include food to recover the vehicle from an impound lot, which costs on average more than $600.
In an emergency, a blocked entrance can mean the difference between life and death for a patient.
“In the United States, it is illegal to block a driveway, even your own,” says Parklio’s website.
“It’s a matter of public safety: emergency services like fire trucks, ambulances or police cars need this space to enter and exit.
“An obstructed driveway can also prevent vehicles from getting out onto the road to seek emergency services.”

“He stopped and blocked the entrance right after I put the sign there. And I was looking right at him.”
He went on to say that his handmade sign might not work, but he is planning to make another one.
“I made that handmade sign, but I’m going to buy a blank cardboard sign, just a plastic cardboard thing,” Michael shared.
“Write it down or something and put it there, and then it’ll be there when it’s raining and it doesn’t wash off or something.”
Although JCPS and Metro Government have not yet made efforts, Michael said Audubon has been reaching out to parents in an effort to minimize the problem.
