American Airlines has partnered with The Landline Company to launch a luxury coach connecting service.

The service will operate from Wilmington Airport in Delaware to Philadelphia International Airport in Pennsylvania and vice versa.

According to American Airlines website“This premium coach experience offers many of the same amenities as a flight and is booked like any other connecting flight in our network.”

Additionally, passengers leaving Wilmington Airport will only have to check their bags when they arrive on the bus.

Ultimately, the service will eliminate the need to check travelers’ bags in a long TSA line, which could delay on-time boarding.

The service will have 35 premium leather seats and is also equipped with free Wi-Fi, entertainment and electric power in all seats.

“American Airlines/Landline service allows passengers to travel with peace of mind knowing their connections are protected with American Airlines,” said Hannah Tamura, Landline spokeswoman. Delaware River and Bay Authority.

“Driving with a landline eliminates the hassle of trying to find a ride or driving and parking in PHL.

“The ability to clear TSA security at ILG rather than waiting in unpredictable security lines at PHL is an added benefit.”

Delaware State Senator Marie Pinkey also released a statement calling the service a “welcome addition.”

“The new American Airlines Landline Connection is a welcome addition to the options offered to customers at Wilmington Airport.

“We now have easy, hassle-free access to American Airlines’ global network at Wilmington Airport, including convenient, one-stop service to more than 100 destinations around the world through its hub in Philadelphia.

“With a focus on convenience, low cost and customer service, our hometown Wilmington Airport is on the move!”

The new services will launch at the Delaware airport on October 7.

Currently, the bus will make six round trips per day between Wilmington and Philadelphia airports.

Passengers will also be able to earn AAdvantage miles on their landline trips.

Cities where American Airlines x fixed line operates from

Although American Airlines is just introducing fixed bus service at Wilmington Airport, it already exists in some cities. The experience is available at:

  • Allentown/Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
  • Atlantic City, New Jersey
  • Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pennsylvania

HOW IT WORKS?

The process of using the new American Airlines x Landline service is quite simple.

Travelers will book their travel with American Airlines as normal.

Instead of having a connecting flight, the connection to and from Philadelphia will appear as “Operated by The Landline Company.”

Once booked, passengers can check in to their bus in the same way as they would for their flight.

Passengers will arrive at the airport, check in as normal and board the bus.

Lastly, they will board the flight and the transportation company will ensure that the bags reach the designated plane.
