The Girl Scout said she was selling cookies from a stand in her grandparents’ garage in the small town of Rock Spring, where they previously lived, according to the Cowboy State Gazette.

His mother stated that they were approached by a woman in an animal control vehicle on March 13.

Fairbanks McCarroll claimed the woman did not announce who she was or what her title was, but allegedly advised the mother and daughter not to block the sidewalk.

“All she said was you shouldn’t block the sidewalk,” Fairbanks McCarroll said.

The mother claimed she pulled the stand further into the garage because of this and continued to operate the tent.

Fairbanks McCarroll claimed the same woman showed up again two days later and gave them several fines.

“We had been selling for about an hour and 30 minutes when she showed up and handed me three parking tickets totaling $400,” Fairbanks McCarroll said.

These fines were a $100 fine for parking on the sidewalk, a $150 fine for illegal obstruction, and a $150 fine for breaking a code that stated that at least five feet of sidewalk must be clear, from according to the Online Mail.

The mother argued that she had followed the previous requests of the woman, who was a police officer.

“I responded that I did what she asked and got off the sidewalk,” Fairbanks McCarroll said.

“She said the fines are not just for sitting on the sidewalk and that this is for her daughter’s safety.”

“I responded, ‘The Fairbanks are my parents and they don’t care,” she added.

The city of Pinedale said the officer warned the pair several times about the code violation before the fines were issued.

“Despite these requests, the stand remained on the sidewalk, which led to the issuing of three fines for obstructing the sidewalk,” the city council said in a statement, according to MailOnline.

They also said the police officer was on duty that day and acted within her role.

Fairbanks McCarroll explained that her daughter was trying to raise money for summer camp.

She added that the Girl Scout sold 1,200 boxes at the same location last year, so she wanted to try again this year.

Fairbanks McCarroll said he paid $508 to hire an attorney and two of the tickets were dismissed.

She received a $150 fine and said she decided to pay it to avoid expensive legal fees, she shared on Facebook publish.
