A MAN has found a mysterious car workshop in the middle of a forest that has been ransacked – but still contains vintage cars.
Jay Applegate made the car’s incredible discovery during a field trip last year as an urban explorer – someone who explores man-made environments and abandoned areas.

Applegate (@jornada_com_jay) took viewers on a tour of the overgrown workshop in a YouTube video which showed a destroyed building full of surprises.
“Today I came across an auto repair shop that had been servicing vehicles for years, but was abandoned many years ago. The tools were gone, but some cars were still inside,” he said in the video’s caption.
Viewers could see that plants had taken over the store’s entrance and its door was on the ground next to the building.
“It’s been abandoned now…probably ten or fifteen years,” he said.

“So it looks like we have some cars left in the garage,” he continued.
He began by pointing out “an old Chevy pickup” with a “double” on the back and a small red car that he said he thought was known as “midgets.”
O next a few minutes were dedicated to car lovers.
HIDDEN TREASURE
Applegate zoomed in on what he believed to be a gray Nissan Z or a classic 1990s Datsun — hard to tell because of the damage.
He showed it had intact back plates and “an old PA plate. You don’t really see that anymore.”
To confirm his suspicions, he got into the car to investigate.
“So I checked under the hood, it’s a 1986 [Nissan] 300Z,” he said.
“I don’t know how much this car is worth or how fast it is,” he added, “but I’m sure it had some speed.”
He shook his head in pity as he talked about the car.
“It’s a shame to see it here. It’s probably not worth restoring it now, since everything broke on it. They stole the rims from it,” he said.
He looked more hopeful as he turned to look at the Chevy pickup.
He said he believed this truck was a Custom/30 and that “a mouse could be living in the glove compartment.”
The truck’s body was missing, the gearbox was missing and the windshield was in pieces.
The last car Applegate explored was the little red one MGwhich was missing the radiator, belts and engine parts, as well as other damage.
How to report an abandoned car
Reporting an abandoned vehicle is important to keep city streets safe and clean
An abandoned car is not only an eyesore, but also a danger to the surrounding community, as pests and rodents can take refuge inside, in the engine compartment or in the trunk.
Leaking fluids can be dangerous to the environment, as many vehicle fluids are toxic and can wreak havoc on ecosystems if they enter waterways.
They can also encourage crime, with several cities like Oakland, California, reporting that drug dealers can use them to hide and steal drugs or weapons.
Abandoned vehicles can also decrease property values.
So they are worth it. The specific contact information for your city’s abandoned car hotline may vary, but the required vehicle information is the same.
When reporting an abandoned vehicle, the police will need:
- The exact address of the vehicle
- Steering column information (broken, missing, intact, etc.)
- Vehicle condition (severely damaged, broken windows, leaking fluids, missing body panels or doors, etc.)
- Brand and model
- Color
- Body style (pickup, SUV, sedan, etc.)
- License plate number and state, if applicable
- VIN
Many cities will allow residents to report abandoned vehicles online via an online form, or by calling.

Despite all his searching, he couldn’t find anything important that he was looking for.
“I was hoping to maybe find a calendar, which generally gives an idea of when the place closed or was last in operation,” he said.
This is not the first time that buildings full of abandoned cars have been discovered by urban explorers.
Some investigators found dozens of abandoned cars, including Mercedes and Mini Coopers, in an undisclosed location in rural Japan.
And another man discovered a car graveyard in Florida created after the 2017 hurricane.
Applegate did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The US Sun.
