A SMART homeowner has found a way to get revenge on strangers taking up his parking space.

Most think it’s hilarious – but some think the prank is childish and reckless.

Bill Patterson, a Facebook user from Lynn, Massachusetts, posted a photo of wheel weights taped to his page with a message about people taking up the parking space in front of his house.

In the comments, he revealed a sign about five feet away from the space to warn people not to park.

“These are tire weights to balance the wheels on your car,” he said. publish it started.

“People keep parking in my space at my house. So now I put this on my car tire, which makes the steering wheel bang, bang, bang!”

He wrote that it was a cheap and clever way to mess with strangers.

“Evil revenge right there.”

Wheel weights are used by mechanics when rotating or installing new tires to ensure the ride is consistent and smooth.

Wheels that are unbalanced in relation to other wheels will cause the steering wheel to wobble when driving at higher speeds, making driving uncomfortable.

The severity of the tremor depends on how strongly the balance is altered after applying extra weights to the wheels.

If the balance is drastically off, the driver’s steering wheel will immediately begin to shake, prompting a trip to the repair shop where they will discover the excess weight and remove it.

I took revenge on a car that stopped me from leaving the store – I filmed the encounter and was crowned the ‘little king’

For a fee, of course – as a mechanic would likely rotate and balance the tires to find the problem.

According to Kelley Blue Booka typical tire rotation costs $60 to $72 for the rotation alone – but adding a balance increases the average price range to $112 to $132.

Of course, the cost may also be higher or lower depending on the vehicle’s make, model, and tire size.

Most of Patterson’s commenters were fully supportive of his “harmless” prank.

“Bad but great,” one person wrote.

He responded by saying they had ample warning.

“People absolutely know not to park there,” his response read.

“It’s five feet in front of them.”

Another wrote that applying weights should be done carefully.

Are you covered by law for parking on public streets?

Parking on public streets is generally legal, even in front of someone’s home, experts say.

Unless the home is in an HOA subdivision, an apartment complex with assigned spaces, or there are laws against parking during certain days or times, it is not illegal to park a vehicle in front of someone’s home on a public street.

“Generally speaking, an individual citizen does not ‘own’ or have any continuing exclusive right to use a parking space on a public street,” he wrote Nolo Legal.

“These spaces are open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.”

Most states have rules against vehicles parking in the same location for 72 hours, or blocking fire hydrants, driveways, and driveways, as a vehicle parked in these spaces presents a safety risk.

“Thump, thump, thump, down the road they go! Start with one tire and then go with all four. Get them inside!” they wrote.

However, a prankster with a similar idea posted your evil plan for Reddit in the subreddit r/Carswhere they were not received with the same enthusiasm.

“Give those people who park poorly a gift they can actually feel,” the post read.

“Or, listen, don’t touch people’s vehicles, regardless of what you think about their parking?”

Another user pointed out that the prank would not teach people not to park in his space.

“It will scare them, but they won’t realize it has anything to do with their parking skills, and you won’t see their scared faces as they drive, so…it won’t do any good.” read their comment.

“Just go the old-fashioned way and leave a little note on the windshield with a drawing of you making a bird.”
