A US city is saying goodbye to parking meters, but drivers in the community are not very happy with the change.

The city has already gotten rid of single-space parking meters on several streets, local CBS channel WCAX reported.
This is a measure to encourage drivers to start using the Park Mobile app.
The application has been available to the city’s population for almost a decade.
While some drivers find the parking phone app convenient, others do not.

“I don’t like this idea at all,” emphasized local Karen Clark.
“I don’t like having to use a card for everything. I prefer to use cash if possible.”
However, it’s a simple change for some car owners in Burlington.
Even visitors have shared how they appreciate the convenience of the parking app.
“It was very easy,” said Elias Adler, a visitor from New York.
“I was able to log on. It asked me my location and I just did it.”
Daniel Wick, a local resident, added: “I feel like in some ways it’s more convenient for some people.”
As changes are underway throughout the city, anyone who doesn’t want to use the app can pay at a nearby kiosk, city officials said.
The kiosks accept various types of payment, including cards, cash and coins.

The main objective of the parking change is convenience for drivers in the city.
“People used to pay extra for meters,” Wick said.
“I think leave some time for the next person. Now, you can’t really do that, you have to pay your own.”
Additionally, officials say managing parking electronically is more efficient.
The change in parking meters also has to do with the increase in parking meter vandalism.
Between street parking, municipal lots, garages and parking tickets, the city receives about $3 million in revenue each year that goes toward transportation costs.
