A shocking electric vehicle not known for its athletic prowess tops the list, with more than 17% of drivers receiving fines.

Around 20 million drivers were stopped by police officers for traffic violations.
Another 8.6 million Americans received speeding tickets, the company said.

The 2023 list generated some surprising results.
The BMW i3 was the best-selling vehicle in 2022, the study found.
BMW’s i3 was a bulbous EV with a zero-to-60 time of nearly seven seconds.
It boasted a modest 170 horsepower.
The i3 production was known for its futuristic design and implementation of sustainable materials.
Its lightweight carbon fiber construction made it a perfect city driver, but i3 owners typically stayed in low-speed areas due to the sub-200-mile battery range.
The car stopped production in 2022.
Still, 17.6% of i3 drivers were stopped by police and received fines, the study found.
The i3 helped propel the German luxury carmaker into the top ten vehicle brands with the highest rate of speeding tickets.
Infiniti, Scion, Volkswagen, Subaru and Mazda rounded out the five manufacturers most likely to snag a ticket.

The numbers have changed drastically regarding 2022 speeding ticket assessments.
The year before, Subaru dominated the top ten cars most likely to get a speeding ticket list.
More than 18% of Subaru WRX drivers received a speeding ticket in 2021, the highest rate of any car on the market.
BRZ and Impreza drivers also made the top ten list.
However, only 1.9% of Subaru seven-passenger SUV drivers received a speeding ticket in 2021.
