A private collector worked with A work of substancea luxury design studio in Hong Kong to create The library – a modular showroom that pays homage to your tasteful vintage car collection.

The Library was completed in 2021 and has a bar, office and lounge with its collection.

The lounge features a 1973 Porsche Carrera RS 2.4, a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB and a Ferrari F40.

The 250 GT Berlinetta is considered by car lovers as one of the greatest Ferraris of all time, having a recent success auction price of US$7.1 million in 2023.

Only 176 units were created, originally designed for racing.

A Porsche Carerra RS 2.4 sold for a whopping $2.4 million in 2022 that was in perfect condition and has an average price of $666,744, according to ConceptCarz.

The Ferrari F40 isn’t a cheap addition to the showroom either, fetching almost $4 million in mint condition.

The average auction price, even in reasonable condition, is $584,364.

The seats in the moody, oak-laden room were tastefully modeled after a Ferrari Dino, an underrated model from the Italian automaker.

The lounge has plenty of free lighting to accentuate the rare classics and glass shelves to house your motorsport memorabilia such as an authentic racing helmet, die-castings and books.

Automotive media outlet Motorious coined The Library the “Cave of the Supreme Man.”

Mirrors are fitted by the F40 to show the interior and engine cover, mitigating the need to leave fingerprints on the car.

The bar stools are made to resemble spark plugs and the door handles reflect the thoughtful design of an Aston Martin Zagato.

The lights that shine in his collection resemble the headlights and taillights of other classic cars, showing great attention to detail.

In a separate part of the room there is a very special classic that boasts the highest value of his entire collection.

The car in question is a prized Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing coupe, which was recently sold for a price RM Sotheby’s auction in Monterey, California, for a staggering $150 million.

The 300Sl was only manufactured from 1954 to 1957 and was modeled after a W194 racing car.

For the time, it featured incredible technology, such as mechanical fuel injection and an overhead camshaft.

The SL stands for “Super-Leicht”, which means “Super light” in German, referring to its luxurious yet lightweight construction.

The gullwing doors were especially shocking at the time, as no other car had doors that opened upward rather than outward.

Mercedes-Benz’s M198 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine produced 212 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque, making the vehicle capable of speeds of up to 163 mph, which was astronomical for the time.

Only 1,400 300SL coupes were built, making the Mercedes a true standout.
