A DRIVER bought her $40,000 Audi lease but ran into numerous problems when trying to get the vehicle’s title.
Christiana Quinn of Providence, Rhode Island, was sent round and round to get her official title between the DMV, the leasing office, headquarters and the car dealership.
Quinn first requested to receive the Audi headquarters lease in the mail but never received it as no signature was required, she told the NBC affiliate. WJAR in February 2022.
“I sent them a check for the balance of the purchase and waited for the title, but the title never arrived,” Quinn said.
Quinn was unable to drive her car and it sat on her front lawn for months because she needed the title to register it.
“I have a purchase worth more than US$40,000 that is useless. I can’t sell, I can’t drive, I can’t do anything,” she explained.
“Without your car’s title you can’t register it, so now my car is essentially a lawn ornament,” Quinn said.
Quinn thought mailing a title would be required by Audi, as it is a very important document.
But she discovered that a delivery man left the title on her porch and she never found it for herself.
An Audi spokesperson said it does not require a signature for titles unless the customer requests it, they told WJAR.
“Buying a car is the second biggest purchase you make near your home,” she said.
“Why would a legal document for such a large purchase be left at the front door?
“Why wouldn’t a signature be required?”
After the confusion, Quinn requested that a duplicate title be sent to her by Audi and records show she paid $25 for it.
Quinn also never received a duplicate.
SENT IN CIRCLES
Local news delved into the details of why she didn’t receive it and discovered that the DMV never sent the second version, WJAR reported.
At this point, it has been eight months since I purchased my vehicle, since they received my payment. I would like the title to my car and would like to borrow a car until I receive the title because I cannot legally drive my car

It was also discovered that the Audi is still entitled to VW Credit Leasing and Quinn is just the lessee even after paying in full.
Quinn was confused because VW Credit Leasing and Audi dealership Warwick were at fault for who was responsible for sending the title.
VW Credit Leasing told her to contact Audi Warwick and vice versa.
Audi Warwick eventually reached out to Quinn and offered him a loaner vehicle.
But she said she was waiting to receive him on time too.
“At this point, it has been eight months since I purchased my vehicle, since they received my payment,” she said.
“I would like the title to my car and I would like to borrow a car until I receive the title because I cannot legally drive my car.”
