An iconic Ford Sierra Rs Cosworth that is almost 40 years old and has surprisingly low mileage is now set to cost six figures.
The driver’s dream that rolled off the production line in the 1980s has just 8,839 units.
Finished in moonstone blue, the Cosworth’s interior is a time tunnel that dates back to the 1980s, with a cigarette lighter, digital quartz clock, light dimmer on the dashboard, leather gear knob, three-spoke sports steering wheel in leather, 3-speed heating fan and cassette storage space.
The beast’s famous 2.0 turbocharged engine will take you to 60 in just 6.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 149 mph.
The engine is in perfect condition, with sumptuous Ford Roma Gray Recaro seats and gray carpets.
And the 80s classic is still attractive thanks to the front bumper, fascia, wheel arch extensions and legendary rear spoiler.
In the 80s the Cosworth was seen as a sports car with a common feel due to its affordable price.
Ordinary guys could aspire to buy one, unlike Aston Martins and Ferraris, which were owned by the super-rich.
JF Classic Cars Ltd has listed the limited edition beauty for £136,995.
Last month, KGF Classic Cars in Peterborough listed an RS500 for an astonishing £350,000.
The price made it the second most expensive Cosworth ever sold – the world record was set last year at auction when one sold for £596,250.
The Sierra Cosworth was developed for touring car racing and later improvements were added for a new model, the RS500.
Exactly 500 were sold in 1987, all of them originally intended to be black, although 56 were painted Diamond White and 52 Moonstone Blue.
The legendary engine went on to become one of the most successful racing cars of all time.
In 1987, an original model would cost around £20,000, but another RS500 recently sold for £135,700 in 2022 – and prices have been rising steadily since.
