There are just a few weeks left before drivers with tickets will qualify for a school grant program that would eliminate their parking tickets.
The city released several types of supplies needed for the donation program.
If you recently received a ticket in Las Vegas, Nevada, you can remove it from your plate.
Now, you can pay off the bill by donating new, unused school supplies of equal or greater value to the fine.
Fines can be for overtime, parking in a space with a restricted time zone, occupying two spaces, parking for more than 72 hours or other infractions.
However, they must be issued between May 1 and June 14, 2024, to qualify for the program.

“So it’s not a discount, but it’s a way of giving back to the community. No one likes getting a parking ticket, so it’s fun to shop and help the teachers in our community,” said parking supervisor Evelyn Valdez, according to the CBS affiliate. KLAS.
Supplies must be dropped off at the Parking Services offices at 350 S. City Parkway within 30 days of the date of the ticket.
Drivers are also required to bring a receipt for the items.
Materials can also be purchased online and delivered to the Secretariats with the citation number in the delivery notes section.
The City Council approved an ordinance that authorized the creation of the program in 2016.
Donating school supplies helps teachers who need to pay out of pocket for what their students need throughout the year.
All teachers have to pay a $26 membership fee to access hundreds of dollars’ worth of materials.
The program is looking for everyday school supplies, including:
- Pencil
- Pens
- Rubbers
- Dry Erase Markers
- Index Cards
- Paper towels/disinfectant wipes
- Cardstock
- Copy paper
- Storage Boxes
- Rulers
- Scissors
- Pencil sharpeners
- post-it notes

The Las Vegas program is not the first of its kind.
Last year in Tuscaloosa, Alabama — about two hours northwest of Montgomery — the city also allowed parking tickets to be paid with a school supply donation.

Drivers were able to pay off extra $18 parking tickets with a school supply donation that cost $10, according to the ABC affiliate. WBMA.
If you spent $20 or more, that would count as two $18 parking tickets.
All supplies were donated to the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education and given to local students.
The program looked for items such as sturdy backpacks, reams of white paper, scientific calculators and binder bags.
A list of estimated values for supplies was created in case a receipt was not brought.
