A PRISTINE Ford Capri with incredibly low mileage has gone up for sale for an exorbitant sum – despite being almost 40 years old.
The car is an ultra-limited edition version built as “the last in a famous line.”

Introduced in the mid-80s, the Capri 280 was the final variant of the iconic model to leave the factory.
The model is often called the Brooklands Capri due to the unique shade of green it was painted in.
Only 1,038 were made, of which this is number 971.
It was first registered in 1987 and sold after just six months to Mr Chris Powell, who kept it until his death in 2013.

At that time, it was passed on to his best friend who “kept it in a state of conservation”, according to the listing on the website. Car and Classic.
And he preserved it, as the Capri has covered just 6,214 miles in the 37 years since it hit the road.
To put it into perspective, that equates to a staggering average of less than 170 miles per year.
The engine is still painted in its original color and has apparently spent the last four decades without a scratch.
Photos of the interior suggest it is in perfect condition, with the black leather trim completely impeccable.
Overall, the car appears to be showroom ready.
Thanks to being “carefully garaged” for years, it has been expertly maintained with premium products and still starts like new.
The listing adds: “The last in a famous line, a Ford Capri 280 Brooklands built 971 with 6,214 miles.

However, all this perfection comes at a price, with a staggering £69,995 listed.
It comes after another Capri went even higher after “never seeing the rain” thanks to a 19-year stint in a garage.
