An IMPRESSIVE Ford Capri that sat in a garage for 25 years has been put up for sale at a huge price.

The model was specially built in an extremely limited run to allow the brand to use a racing version on the international circuit.

The RS3100 was only produced between November and December 1973.

This example, registered in 1974, is one of only 250 to ever roll off the production lines.

In fact, Ford only made this number because it was necessary for a modified version of the RS3100 to be entered into touring car racing.

The listing in piston heads describes it as a “Rare Fast Ford that has a genuine pedigree and a thirst for speed.”

Finished in “Sebring Red”, the engine is in remarkable condition, with every aspect completely immaculate.

This is undoubtedly largely due to the passionate care of the current owner, who first purchased it in 1999.

Since then it has been stored in a garage, only being used for regular inspections and maintenance.

As a result, it has accumulated an unbelievable mileage of just 287 in a quarter of a century.

To put that into perspective, that equates to just 18.4 miles per year.

The listing added: “Developed for racing, the RS3100 is a rare Fast Ford that has a genuine pedigree and thirst for speed.

Incredibly powerful Ford Capri ‘which once overtook police in car chase’ sells for £23,000

“The Ford Capri had already placed itself in the heart of the country when the car started to make noise in the world of motorsport.

“Europe’s answer to the Mustang, the Capri was available from 1969 and became an instant success, thanks to Ford’s clever marketing, but also its reputation for durability, ease of use, availability and large number of options and available settings.

“Verified as an original RS3100, it is standard with some reversible modifications.

“Well presented, it offers the new owner a solid, well-maintained car that can be further improved.”

Over 40 years old, the car is also exempt from MOT and road tax, but comes complete with a 12-month MOT.

However, the immaculate Ford doesn’t come cheap, with a guide price of £49,950.

This comes after another ultra-limited edition Capri went on sale for even more after having just two owners.
