They wrote: ‘Authorised parker parked in my driveway.

“Keep in mind that my garage is the width of a single car, lined with a retaining wall on both sides and a carport at the end.”

The rogue driver then explained that they had managed to park in front of the garage, effectively trapping the offending engine inside.

They laughed: “It is essentially impossible for a tow truck to come and remove them without causing property damage.

“Seeing that and the lack of street parking, I took that as a cue to park right behind them in my driveway.”

Surprisingly, the “authorized parker” knocked on the driver’s door and demanded that they move the car.

“As they were demanding, I informed them that I had been drinking and would not be moving my car,” the Reddit user said.

“The parker then decides to call the police so they can force me to move.

“When the police knocked on my door, I made sure to grab a beer from the fridge before answering to speak to the officer.

“I informed him that after I got home I was relaxing, drinking and was in no condition to drive.

“At this point, her hands were tied because they were unable to tow her car, I am in no condition to drive and I am legally parked in my garage.”

I was arrested in my own garage after a mistake left my driver’s license suspended – but the problems didn’t stop there

Continuing the revenge, the user told the “main driver” that he would not move the car for the next four days.

Users were shocked by the audacity of the “authorized driver”.

One said: “The absolute audacity of parking in someone else’s garage without permission.

“I would have Ubered to work on Tuesday just as an extra for you.”

Another said: “The audacity XXL to call the police on the owner of said garage.”

Most users loved the petty revenge.

One said: “A valuable lesson is being taught to this woman.

“Don’t park in other people’s garages. I’m sure she’ll remember that for the rest of her life.”

Another said: “This is the pettiest revenge ever and we appreciate your efforts.”

Is it illegal to park in someone else’s garage?

In short, no, it is not illegal to park in someone else’s garage.

If someone is blocking your entrance and you want them to move, the police can’t do anything, even if they haven’t been drinking.

In the event of a dispute, you should contact your local council as this is a civil matter.

Unfortunately, they may also not be able to help if the car is on private land and is not obstructing the road or on a fallen curb.

This would be classed as trespassing, requiring you to apply to a court for an eviction order, which could take months.

The police will only become involved if the dispute escalates into a crime, for example if repeated nuisance parking could be classed as harassment.

Similarly, local councils can remove cars if they are classed as abandoned, but this also only happens after several months.
