MORE than 125,000 Teslas have been recalled after the company said its seat belt warning systems are not working properly in some products.

Tesla’s recall will affect thousands of drivers as four models deal with faulty warnings.

Elon Musk’s EV producer issued the recall to federal regulators on May 31.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA, said seat belt alarms “may not activate as intended.”

NHTSA officials said some of the EVs did not comply with federal seat belt regulations because they did not alert drivers when seat belts were not in use.

The recall said that several drivers had problems with Tesla’s seat belt warning “chime.”

He also said the dashboard did not consistently show which passengers were not wearing seat belts.

Officials said faulty warnings could increase the risk of injury in a collision.

The recall includes the 2012-2024 Model S, 2015-2024 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3 and 2020-2023 Model Y.

Tesla will send an over-the-air update to fix the technical issue in June.

The solution will eliminate dependency on driver seat occupancy sensor software.

Instead, the update will only monitor the car’s ignition and buckle before displaying the warnings.

Tesla has had two other major recalls this year.

In January, the company issued a recall for 200,000 Model S, X and Y EVs due to a rear visibility issue.

The company has issued another recall for all of its nearly 4,000 Cybertrucks on the road after drivers complained about the plastic casing on the accelerator pedal.

Drivers said the casing had come loose from the accelerator and could become lodged in the carpets.

The defect may have caused the heavy and fast truck’s accelerator pedal to become stuck at full throttle.
