A HOBBY mechanic raved about a $25 driveway cleaner that was tough enough to scrub stubborn oil stains with a brush.
In just a few weeks, a driveway, garage, sidewalk or other concrete surfaces look like new.
Working on cars at home instead of visiting an auto repair shop is a great way to save money.
When oil or other fluids are spilled on your driveway, renting a pressure washer or paying a company to clean your driveway can be expensive.
Hiring someone to pressure wash a driveway can cost between $100 and $500 depending on the size, according to My KuKun.
The average cost is about $258, the website says.

Fortunately, there is a solution advertised to work better than pressure washing – EXIMO Waterless Concrete Cleaning Powder for $24.95 at Amazon.
The product description indicates that the powder can be used on concrete garage floors, driveways, driveways and sidewalks.
As a bonus, the solution is environmentally friendly as it does not contain harsh chemicals in the mix; instead, it uses bioremediation.
“EXIMO is all-natural and uses a process called bioremediation to break down hydrocarbon chains deep below the surface into harmless water and carbon dioxide,” the product description says.
“[The product] cleans oil stains better than pressure washing, working deep into the pores of concrete, restoring its original shine and clean appearance.”
Without using water, there is no drying or “down” time when used with a brush.
However, the powder can also be mixed with water as a wet application.
“EXIMO is easily applied in just a few minutes and can be immediately walked or driven in. No expensive pressure washing rentals and no downtime!” the description continued.
The steps for applying the product are simple: clean the surface of any debris, apply the product to the stain, sweep with a soft bristle broom and wait.
Results usually appear within four to six weeks.
Out of 746 reviews, the product earned four stars out of five, with many reviewers saying the product was easy to use.
A home mechanic reviewed the product, saying it worked exceptionally well to clear his driveway of several years of spilled oil.
“I do a lot of hobby work in my garage, especially on older cars, which means some really nasty oil buildup and grease stains of various kinds,” he wrote.
“Using typical cleaning products to try to clean this usually doesn’t work very well and instead tends to spread the oil and grease, and their stains, without really looking like you’ve done much to remove them.”
It was then that she decided to try EXIMO powder and enjoyed the ease of application and the cleaning process without the mess and hassle of pressure washing.
“This thing is different. First of all, it takes a lot less time than trying to clean concrete with other common cleaning products,” he continued.
‘You also end up being a lot less messy in the end – no splashes, no stepping in greasy liquids, etc. There’s basically just a light-colored powder that’s easy to remove from anything that falls on it.’
He followed the instructions, saying that he pushed the mixture with the broom every day instead of leaving it on the stains as the description directs.
“After I did this, it only took about a week for most of the stain to completely disappear and the concrete to be about 10 shades brighter than it used to be,” he wrote.
The best part was how easy it was for him to clean.
WHEN TO REDO THE ENTRANCE FLOOR

Here are the classic signs that a driveway needs an update…
Paved sidewalks should last about 20 years.
However, leaking engine oil, extreme temperatures, heavy rain or large cars can damage the strength of the pavement.
Keep an eye out for these classic signs:
- Small cracks that won’t connect
- Holes
- Sunken spots
- Illuminated color
- Edges breaking
Some driveway repairs may just need a quick resurface. Unresolved issues may require complete repaving.
Most repairs will cost drivers between $1 and $3 a square foot.

“Then once you’re happy with where you are, you can just sweep it all away,” his review read.
Ten other reviewers found his lengthy review helpful.
Another home mechanic said it worked well to clean up spilled gear oil.
“I was in an accident with my SUV that resulted in a good amount of synthetic gear oil on my garage floor,” they wrote.
“I’m shocked at how much better the concrete already looks. It’s easy to apply, although it is a little dusty. This is hands down the best concrete oil remover I’ve ever used. Highly recommended.”
Deep oil stains were no match for this product, according to another reviewer who used it to clean oil build-up from his vehicle’s oil spill.
“I honestly had no hope,” the review began.
“I’ve tried so many oil cleaners and none of them have worked. From dish soap, to laundry, to dip and brush types. This one really works! I had deep oil stains in my garage from a car oil leak. So as the packaging said, apply a very small amount weekly and brush it on. It got lighter and lighter until it disappeared.
