A FORD Capri has been put up for sale after being “parked for 35 years” before being fully restored.

The classic engine, a favorite among enthusiasts, is finished in blue and has just 45,000 kilometers on the clock.

According to the listing, the Mk2 Capri originally had a 1.6-liter engine, but was later upgraded by the previous owner to a 2.0 Ghia.

Ghia was Ford’s luxury car styling company at the time, known primarily for its more luxurious models. interiors compared to standard models.

The classic engine was then “parked for 35 years” before being purchased by the current owner – who rebuilt the Capri’s engine.

The listing said: “I disassembled the engine which was completely seized and then rebuilt it with new parts.”

The rebuild includes new paint as well as new wheel bearings, brake cylinders and a complete exhaust system.

They added: “It drives well for a 46 year old car, I encourage and recommend you check it out to know what you are buying.”

The Capri in question costs just £8,500 and can be purchased through specialist car auctions Cars and classics.

Over 40 years old, the car is also exempt from MOT and road taxes.

First produced in 1974, following the huge success of the Mk1 Capri, the Mk2 ran for four years and was built by Ford to be more in line with everyday driving.

It came with a shorter hood, larger cabin, and a hatchback-style tailgate.

The Capri model was later redesigned with the Mk3.
