A DRIVER complained about her neighbor after a series of comments left her feeling insecure – the neighbor even asked to use her garage indefinitely.
In a post on Reddit, the driver asked others for guidance as they navigated the embarrassing situation.
The 23-year-old Redditor said her neighbor approached her days after she and her partner moved into the house.
“When we moved in four months ago, we were visited by the neighbor across the street,” she wrote in the mega thread Am I The A******.
“He was visibly uncomfortable and awkward when speaking to us, but was generally polite.”
The Redditor claims that conversations evolved quickly.

She said Rob angrily confronted his partner about not remembering his name the next time they spoke.
The Redditor said he initially tried to practice grace with his older neighbor.
“I found the interaction strange, since [my partner] is extremely polite,” she wrote.
“I assumed the conversation was misunderstood and moved on.”
After a few cordial months, the Redditor said the neighbor began exhibiting more bizarre behavior.
When the neighbor returned home, she said he and a co-worker would park in her garage.
The neighbor was talking to the co-worker while the vehicle was parked for up to 20 minutes, she wrote.
“I’m uncomfortable with this since no one asked to use our drive,” she said.
However, the use of the neighbor’s driveway continued to expand.
The Redditor said he recently asked to use the garage indefinitely.
The neighbor bought a large truck that didn’t fit in his garage, she said.
There are two driveways on the Redditor’s property – each is gravel.
Why is it illegal to block a driveway?
Blocking a driveway is illegal in the United States due to limiting access to emergency care.
In addition to being reckless, blocking a driveway is a serious safety hazard, cops say.
Blocking someone’s entryway is illegal in all 50 states, with fines and penalties varying by state.
For example, blocking a driveway in San Francisco, California can net a driver a hefty $286 towing fee and a $110 fine.
This does not include food to recover the vehicle from an impound lot, which costs on average more than $600.
In an emergency, a blocked entrance can mean the difference between life and death for a patient.
“In the United States, it is illegal to block a driveway, even your own,” says Parklio’s website.
“It’s a matter of public safety: emergency services like fire trucks, ambulances or police cars need this space to enter and exit.
“An obstructed driveway can also prevent vehicles from getting out onto the road to seek emergency services.”

She said their property can accommodate between three and five vehicles in the spaces – but she is reluctant to give up one of the spaces to her neighbor.
“I am concerned about liability issues and do not know or trust [my neighbor]”, she complained in the thread.
“I think he’s strange and rude and I’m worried he’ll take advantage of us.”
Nearly 300 other Redditors chimed in to comment on the owner’s story.
Almost every answer says the Redditor should be skeptical of his neighbor.
“If he can’t fit his truck in the garage, then he should have bought a truck that fits,” said one Redditor.
Other commenters said she should be careful about insurance liability issues.
Another commenter said the driver should politely reject the neighbor’s wishes.
They also said not to give the reason for rejection.
“If you give a reason against his request, you open the discussion”, they advised.
“Don’t give him a solvable problem that he can try to solve.”
