Noisy Cars, Explained

Here are some of the modifications that regulators are looking to fight:

Engine and exhaust modifications are extremely popular among car enthusiasts.

Dozens of aftermarket systems can increase a car’s performance and make it louder.

For example, some drivers may implement performance air intakes and turbochargers to increase engine power.

Other drivers may change the muffler, catalytic converter, or exhaust pipes to increase airflow.

Both changes can increase the decibels in an engine’s notes.

Drivers can also make important changes, such as removing soundproofing parts around the engine.

But studies show that increased road noise has a cumulative impact on residents’ health.

A recent Harvard Medicine study found that residents who live near noisy roads have an increased risk of heart and lung disease, anxiety and type 2 diabetes.

Participants near noisy roads also reported increased sleep and mental health problems compared to their counterparts in quiet neighborhoods.

Hudson, who has an impressive 759,000 followers on Instagram, is also facing legal troubles in the city of Seattle.

Many of the videos posted on the social media site show Hudson running through the Belltown neighborhood late at night while revving his engine — a clear violation of Seattle’s noise ordinance.

O concierge states “It is unlawful for any person to operate on any highway, any motor vehicle, or any combination of motor vehicles under any conditions of incline, load, acceleration or deceleration in such a manner that the exhaust or engine noise of the motor vehicle.”

According to the Reddit user, he alerted the apartment's concierge about the incident and the employee promptly called a towing company.

It is also stated that no one is authorized to modify the car “in such a way as to amplify or increase the noise emitted by the engine of that vehicle greater than that emitted by the muffler originally installed in the vehicle”.

According to the city, Hudson faces numerous noise complaints that require the man to modify his car to reduce the sound coming from his vehicle’s exhaust.

Shortly after the complaints were filed, Hudson’s mother refuted the claims by stating that the vehicle was in a repair shop at the time.

It is not known whether the vehicle was seized, however, according to the lawsuit, the deadline for Hudson’s response has expired.

If Hudson continues to drive through Belltown at night, he could face fines of up to $1,300 per day for each noise violation.
