Drivers experiencing a problem with the exterior door handle of the only Fisker model are being warned to return their vehicles, Reuters reported.

O VE recall affects 8,204 vehicles in U.S.

Furthermore, it means that 3,806 Fisker Ocean SUV owners in Europe and 513 in Europe Canada are having to send their cars, according to Business in Mexico.

Because the issue is a fairly serious safety issue and can potentially cause drivers and their passengers to become trapped inside a car, the company is asking drivers to return their Fisker automobiles.

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has noted the risk of injury from such breakdowns.

This is what led Fisker to offer free replacements for the affected parts.

The manufacturer announced the recall on Friday.

Its latest recall over the door problem marks Fisker’s third recall this month.

The NHTSA has numerous open investigations looking into a range of issues related to the automaker’s Ocean SUV.

The NHTSA has four investigations to uncover different problems reported by drivers about vehicles.

These cases come as Fisker recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The manufacturer filed for bankruptcy on June 17 after layoffs, Fortune reported.

Fisker halted production of its Ocean SUV months ago.

Fisker’s problems

Fisker endured six months of headlines – here’s what happened to the company:

Fisker was one of the most watched EV brands before its consumer launch.

But once the brand hit the open market, dozens of financial difficulties and complaints about the quality of the vehicles contributed to the company’s eventual bankruptcy filing.

Financially, Fisker delayed several SEC filings.

The company also struggled to maintain investments after spending $1 billion in money from individual investors.

Fisker was delisted from the New York Stock Exchange in April 2024 after its shares fell “abnormally downward.”

Its consumer-facing product also faced difficulties after hitting the market.

The Ocean was built in Europe before being shipped to customers in the US.

Customers have complained about months-long waiting periods before receiving their vehicles.

So, several buyers said they had concerns about quality.

Famously, Marques Brownlee called the Ocean “the worst car I’ve ever reviewed,” citing several technical flaws.

The company said Brownlee tested a car before receiving technical updates.

The move reflects that the company is in a financial hole that is only getting worse due to production challenges and buyer dissatisfaction.

The Fisker Ocean SUV was intended to compete with Tesla’s best-selling Model Y crossover.

was founded by Danish automotive designer Henrik Fisker and his wife in 2016.

Tesla Riva’s Ocean SUV has an extensive history of technical problems.

Problems with EVs have led to more than 100 complaints from drivers to U.S. authorities.

Some of the reported issues include sudden loss of power and situations where front hoods open unexpectedly at high speeds, Mexico Business reported.
