Tesla ‘will lay off more than 10 percent of its global workforce’ after vehicle deliveries drop

ELECTRIC vehicle company Tesla will lay off more than ten percent of its global workforce, according to reports.

It is said to be eliminating around 14,000 jobs, but it remains to be seen where in the business they will be lost.

Tesla – led by billionaire Elon Musk – has just recorded its first drop in vehicle deliveries in four years.

Musk told employees in an email that the company needed to be “light, innovative and eager.”

He added: “There is nothing I hate more, but it must be done.

“I would like to thank everyone leaving Tesla for their work.

“I am deeply grateful for your many contributions to our mission and we wish you well in your future opportunities.

“It’s very difficult to say goodbye.

“To the rest, I would like to thank you in advance for the difficult work that lies ahead.

“We are developing some of the most revolutionary technologies in automobiles, energy and artificial intelligence.

“As we prepare the company for the next phase of growth, your determination will make a huge difference in getting us there.”
