Ford recently confirmed that the Capri will be revealed soon, and the new model has been spotted testing on public roads.

Now, the latest clue to the imminent arrival of the new Capri is some graffiti seen at the Ford factory in Cologne, Germany, which says “the legend is back”.

The striking words are accompanied by the dates of 1986 and 2024 which, together with the location, are certainly a great indication of the car’s arrival.

Three of the previous generations of the iconic coupe were built in Cologne.

According to reports from Carthe engine will be the first to carry the Capri name since 1986, when the last Mk3 Capri rolled off the production line.

The model is one of the most celebrated and popular in history, having been in production for almost 20 years before being scrapped.

The German site is now a carbon-neutral battery and electric car assembly plant.

It is reasonable to produce the recently launched Ford Explorer SUV and will presumably also build the next Capri, which will also be an EV.

The new EV is expected to line up alongside the Explorer in Ford’s e-SUV lineup.

Reports suggest the launch was supposed to be just six months after its sister car, which went on sale in 2022, but was delayed so the company could overhaul the battery.

Ford has already dropped important hints by releasing some photos of its next electric SUV.

The photos were sent via an unusual interactive ad placed in several print publications.

Under the heading of “return cars”, it quoted Manchester United legend Eric Cantona as saying: “When the seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they think the sardines will be thrown overboard.

“Now throw those images into the sea online and find out who follows.”

The listing then asked readers to text the word “return” to a dedicated WhatsApp profile and those who did so were rewarded with two photos of the car, showing the front right and rear left corners.

However, the link between the famous quote and the model has not yet been clarified.

There are also several references to the Capri model in the Comeback Cars advertisement.

The tagline “the cars you always promised yourself” in the ad pays homage to the original Capri campaign.

However, the numbers ‘1969’ and ‘1986’ in the new advertisement refer to the start and end dates of its production.

It comes as a major car brand announces that two beloved estate engines will return after a year off the market.

The brand had planned to adopt only SUVs from this year, but confirmed a stunning reversal of the decision just a few weeks ago.

Last year, Volvo said it was scrapping its entire range of estate models in favor of larger vehicles.

This would then lead to the brand’s plans to achieve an all-electric range by 2030.

However, last month the company reversed its decision to bring back two of its most popular cars.

The electric SUV will be launched on July 10
