A HYPERCAR is getting closer to being confirmed as the world’s fastest road car, after tests showed it can reach impressive speeds.

Computer simulations suggest the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut is capable of reaching 311 mph, which would mean beating current record holder Bugatti – while the company plans to open a showroom in London.

Swedish mastermind Christian von Koenigsegg has been building some of the world’s fastest hypercars for over 20 years.

He is confident his team now has the data to knock their rivals out of first place, after carrying out rigorous testing and analyzing complex data.

However, earlier this month the Aspark Owl was confirmed as the fastest EV at 272.61mph, crushing the Rimac Nevera that previously held the crown, into the dust.

Von Koenigsegg says he knows “exactly how the aerodynamics work on the car.”

The team doesn’t know exactly how the vehicle would perform at such record speeds – but it could even exceed simulation estimates.

Mr von Koenigsegg said Top Gear Magazine: “It calculates the rolling resistance of the tire, the drag of the car, puts the correct load on the car at 500km/h if we get there… and we managed to get past 500km/h in ninth gear before hitting the rev limiter and still have some space on the chassis dyno.”

Bugatti’s Chiron Super Sport reached 304 mph in 2019 – but is now set to be discontinued.

The Jesko Absolut has a carbon fiber body, which means it is strong and light.

It is powered by a supercharged 5.1-liter flat-crank V8 engine rated at 1,578 hp.

Its top speed is 1,106 lb-ft of torque.

Major car brand will revive long-forgotten sports model, discontinued 23 years ago

However, the designer admits that there are two issues that could hinder his chances of winning the title.

Firstly, you need the right location. The Jesko Absolut needs a long enough stretch of road to gain speed and then gradually stop.

And the second is to find the right rubber for the tires that allows them to withstand the immense force of such a race.

Bugatti used specially developed Michelin tires and completed testing at the Volkswagen test track in Ehra-Lessien.

But this was due to the fact that VW owned Bugatti at the time.

BUGATTI SET TO DISCONTINUE CHIRON

After earning immense praise and breaking the 300 mph barrier, Bugatti will retire its legendary Chiron.

The £3.1 million monster is the fastest car in the world, reaching 304 mph.

The stunning model will be topped off with a final version, dubbed the Super Sport L’Ultime, which the brand claims will “celebrate the end of the incompatible Chiron era”.

It is a unique car among the range of already super-limited editions, with only the last of the 500 units ever manufactured transformed into the “ultimate” supercar.

It features a striking blue and black design, with the names of the main automobile cities painted on the doors.

These include Molsheim, where the Chiron is manufactured, as well as references to circuits in Monaco, France and Qatar.

The farewell model also marks the end of the road for the brand’s legendary W16 engine, with the car’s successor set to feature a massive hybrid powertrain.

L’Ultime will house the largest engine ever placed in a Chiron, measuring one meter in length alone.

Meanwhile, its replacement will combine Bugatti’s unique internal combustion design with new owners Rimac’s electric supercar technology.

It is expected to even surpass the 1,587 horsepower produced by the W16.

Further details about the upcoming hypercar remain under wraps, and even the unveiling date is shrouded in mystery.
