A CAR expert has shared five depreciated luxury cars that appear to “cost an absolute fortune” but can be purchased for up to 90% off their original price.

You could walk away with a plush Lexus or Mercedes for a fraction of the price they would have listed for when new just a few years ago.

Jonny Brighton, who runs CarsWithJB, took his YouTube viewers through five of the best high-end engines that have suffered the most significant depreciation.

Jonny said: “Luxury cars are often worth an absolute fortune.

“And they are often big and burly.

“Today I’m going to talk about five in particular that have depreciated a lot, are quite fast and still offer insane levels of luxury.”

Lexus LS500H

As with many of the cars on the list, the LS 500H was the manufacturer’s most expensive offering at the time of its launch.

At the top of the Lexus saloon range, it boasts a long, wide bonnet and a spacious interior combined with surprising power that positions it as a rival to the Mercedes AMG range (more on that later).

Surprisingly, it’s the fifth-generation version, the one still on sale today, that came within the limits of Jonny’s £50,000 budget, despite being “ridiculously well equipped”.

A rapid decline in demand for saloons and estates in recent years, with consumers increasingly turning to crossover SUVs, has led to some of the latest offerings being caught in a depreciation trap.

You’ll look like a celebrity getting back on topic

The latest model will set you back almost £100,000, but take a look online and you might find a 2018 model, which has largely the same specs, for just £35,000.

Range Rover P565

Speaking of the growing love for 4x4s, the Range Rover has the same 5.2 second 0-60 mph time as the Lexus, despite being almost twice the weight.

And like the LS, the P565 has only hit the market in the last six years, which means you can pick up new examples that look nearly identical to the 2024 model at a significant discount.

In this case, a 2018 P565 could drop as low as £44,000, while the equivalent model today could fetch closer to £200,000.

Mercedes’ AMG lineup has long been held among the best in the luxury car market for its premium presentation combined with sports car performance.

Jonny said: “Of all the cars on this list, the S63L AMG might be the best of all worlds.

“It has the best overall combination of luxury technology and performance.

“The spec list is absolutely insane.

“Park one of these in a parking lot, ask your partner to sit in the driver’s seat in a suit, and you’ll look like a celebrity wearing it again.”

Drivers can expect reclining rear seats with folding footrests, passenger TV screens, and leather trim.

The 2024 S-Class is on sale for £92,000, but it dates back to 2018 and prices have more than halved, dropping to £41,000.

You can buy a Rolls Royce in 2024 for less than £40,000 – that’s truly astonishing.

Just £39,000 will get you a seventh-generation Phantom.

When you consider that the current eighth-generation model weighs over £400,000, that’s an impressive bargain.

However, you’ll have to get a little older to access these prices, with 2004/5 copies at the best rates.

If you want something closer to the 2010s, it’ll probably cost around £50,000, but that’s still almost a tenth of what you’d pay today.

Break out the bubbly because this Beemer technically sits in the limo class.

Longer than the Merc and slightly less speed, it was also the last V12 car ever produced by BMW.

It’s loaded with all the AMG’s mod cons and is actually quite a bit cheaper.

The 2018 version can fetch up to £35,000 and Jonny praised it for its style and reliability.
