A 1931 Ford Model A limousine was listed on Craigslist for $59,000 in San Jose, California, with a custom paint job and a completely rebuilt hot rod engine.

The Ford Model A never came from the factory in limousine configuration, but the builder, who listed other Model A limousines online for $75,000said he uses two Model A’s to make the limousine.

The wheelbase, which is just over 80 inches long, required two driveshafts to transfer engine power to the rear wheels.

The bodywork is entirely made of metal, except for the fenders, which are made of fiberglass, he said. Jalopnik.

A four-barrel Edelbrock carburetor is also visible in the ad, adding to the “wow” factor of this restaurant.

Of course, the original engine for a Model A in 1931 was a 3.3-liter inline four-cylinder engine commonly seen in tractors and trucks.

It produced a slow 40 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque, which wouldn’t be powerful enough to transport people in a limousine.

Therefore, the manufacturer replaced the engine with a 351 cubic inch V8 that was ported, polished and engineered, in accordance with the Craigslist Ad.

The low-power three-speed transmission was also eliminated and replaced with a much more modern transmission to handle the extra power.

The listing also said the limousine had only been driven 6,500 miles.

Inside, the builder added air conditioning to the limo to keep all seven passengers comfortable, and if it’s anything like the other limo built, it may have a CD player so passengers can enjoy some tunes.

The vehicle was already part of the Volo Car Collection, complete with certificate, as shown in the photo in the original advertisement.

Readers of Jalopnik’s coverage were most impressed with the vehicle’s build quality relative to the price.

“When I read the headline I expected something really horrible, then I saw the photos…it’s not really horrible, it’s cool,” wrote one reader.

“That said, I think you buy this as a business proposition.”

Another said that for a limousine business this would be a smart car to have in the stables.

Key Features of Model A Limousine

“Limousines are not cheap (to buy) and should be reserved,” they wrote.

However, another reader warned that the target audience for such a limousine would probably not use it.

“Any boomer who rents this already has their own hotrod that they would rather drive than be driven in someone else’s car,” they wrote.

They said they could imagine buying it under certain conditions.

“The only situation I could see myself buying this in is if I won the $1 billion lottery; I would give it the George Barris Munster Koach treatment (by cutting off the top) and drive it in parades or just bring it out on Halloween with the family dressed up. appropriately.”
