ENGINEERS have created the world’s first fully automated inspection using AI, eliminating the need for manual inspection.

The “MRI” vehicle uses AI to perform a 360-degree scan for leaks, cutting inspection time in half.

The BMW dealership in Honolulu has unveiled the world’s first hands-free car inspection drive-through, representing a breakthrough in technology when it comes to vehicle repair.

“MRI” for cars uses sensitive scanners that perform a 360-degree scan of the vehicle paired with AI to look for possible repairs.

After the vehicle is scanned from roof to tires, a condition report is sent to a manned kiosk.

The report can also be sent directly to someone’s computer or phone, it said. KTV.

The goal of the automated inspection service is to reduce customer costs and wait times by no longer using a technician to perform the work.

Inspection times are cut in half with the machine, making it more attractive to most customers looking for a visual inspection.

“This has reduced the time it takes us to scan our cars, which we used to do manually,” said Lydell Bangloy, service manager at the dealership.

“We used to do it manually. Then our service guy would walk around the car with the camera and check for damage. Now with this machine, it takes a few seconds just to go through and it does a 360 scan around the car and looks underneath the car too.”

Computers make inspection more accurate as no bias is applied and computers are not affected by fatigue like a human technician would be.

This type of technology is used by the US military, the media outlet reported, but this is the first time it has been seen in a format aimed at civilians.

Tim Palms, the general manager, didn’t reveal the exact cost of the technology – but he’s confident it will pay for itself over time.

“I wanted to get high-resolution images of every car that came in here so we could avoid having to take videos of every car or take pictures if there was damage and things like that at check-in,” he said.

“Because it really slows things down. So by being able to automate, we can speed up the customer verification process.”

While utility executives celebrate the technology and the benefits it will bring to their customers, others are cautious.

What are the arguments against AI?

Artificial intelligence is a highly controversial issue and it seems like everyone has a position on it. Here are some common arguments against this:

Job Loss – Some industry experts argue that AI will create new niches in the job market, and as some roles are eliminated, others will appear. However, many artists and writers insist that the argument is ethical, since generative AI tools are being trained on their work and would not work otherwise.

Ethics – When AI is trained on a dataset, much of the content is taken from the internet. This is almost always, if not exclusively, done without notifying the people whose work is being performed.

Privacy – Content from personal social media accounts can be fed into language models to train them. Concerns have emerged as Meta unveils its AI assistants on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. There have been legal challenges to this issue: in 2016, legislation was created to protect personal data in the EU, and similar laws are in the works in the United States.

Misinformation – As AI tools extract information from the Internet, they may take things out of context or experience hallucinations that produce absurd responses. Tools like Copilot on Bing and Google’s generative search AI are always at risk of getting things wrong. Some critics argue this could have lethal effects – such as AI prescribing erroneous health information.

She may appreciate technology, but she is not ready to trust it.

“I don’t trust AI, I’m a little scared of AI,” she said.

While she remains cautious, in this particular case, she said she can see the potential benefits.

“But in this case, I think it’s a good thing because I think it will be a little more accurate than someone walking around the car and checking the details of the photograph they’re going to take,” she continued.

“It’ll be a little more precise.”
