A DRIVER claimed an HOA almost gave him a ticket after a flat tire.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the driver said he had to restrain himself to avoid a fight.

User X said he didn’t even live in the community when he received the parking notice.

Although the driver was clearly working on the issue of necessary maintenance, he said authorities still threatened him.

“My mother’s former HOA had an old man who threatened me with a fine,” the driver said in one post.

“I was changing my tire in the condo parking lot after it got a flat after hitting a rock in the parking lot.”

The interaction almost led to an escalation.

But user X said he didn’t fight back.

“I was almost done and I didn’t live there,” he said.

“It took a lot of effort not to tell him to fuck off.”

US Sun contacted user X for comment on this story.

The driver did not immediately respond to our request for comment.

Several other drivers posted on social media following their unfortunate parking lot encounters.

A driver said he found a giant pickup truck taking up two parking spaces in front of an IKEA store.

The driver of the pickup, likely the owner of a Ram 3500, left a note in his car apologizing for his parking technique.

The truck was too big to fit into a space.

But a passerby noticed a problem with the note and pointed out the flaw in a petty response.

Can an HOA prohibit on-street parking?

According to a North Carolina lawyer, an HOA retains the legal right to park anywhere — even in a homeowner’s garage.

The trick, says HOA attorney Mike Hunter, is the deed that homeowners sign when they buy a home within a subdivision.

“If you buy a home in a deed-restricted community, you are required to comply with those restrictions,” he told Charlotte Observant.

“If restrictive covenants say you can’t park on the street, the council has a legal duty to enforce that.”

Many states are passing laws to limit the power of HOAs, although most states still grant HOAs to enforce their regulations, restrictive or otherwise, as they see fit.

Another driver said her vehicle broke down when she was about to return home.

The equipment malfunctioned while she was in the parking lot and the driver needed help.

She said several strangers came to guide her through her car problems.

“[They were] everyone was kind, helpful and patient,” she said of the interactions.

“Humanity is innately good. What unites us is much greater than what divides us.”
