Israel’s war on Gaza entered its 200th day on Tuesday as fears grew of an Israeli ground attack on overcrowded southern Gaza.

The Israeli army carried out intense bombings during the night in the neighborhoods of Tuffah, Shujayea and Zeitun, in Gaza. Shelling and loud explosions were heard in southwestern Gaza and in Khan Younis in the south, while airstrikes struck near the Bureij refugee camp and artillery fire hit the Nuseirat refugee camp.

The military said it attacked several Hamas positions in southern Gaza, with its warplanes hitting around 25 targets, including military observation and launching posts.

Israel’s military offensive has killed at least 34,183 people in Gaza since October 7, most of them women and children, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The ministry’s latest figure released on Tuesday included at least 32 deaths in the previous 24 hours.

The Israeli military dropped 75,000 tons of explosives on the Gaza Strip, turning much of its civilian infrastructure into rubble, according to data released by the Government’s Social Communications Office in the besieged territory, marking 200 days of war.

In total, the Israeli attacks damaged or destroyed: 380,000 housing units, 412 schools and universities, 556 mosques, three churches, 206 archaeological and heritage sites.

Furthermore, the attacks left 32 hospitals and 53 health centers out of service, and 126 ambulances were also targeted.

This destruction is equivalent to at least 30 billion dollars in economic losses, said the media office.

For Palestinians in Gaza, Monday was a day of new horror, with the territory’s Civil Defense agency saying that around 200 bodies had been discovered in the previous three days at the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the medical complex.
