US Central Command claims to have struck more than 80 unilateral attack drones aimed at Israel.
The United States destroyed dozens of drones and at least six ballistic missiles from Iran and Yemen aimed at Israel, their military said.
US forces struck more than 80 unidirectional attack drones, including seven ground-directed UAVs before launch, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Monday.
“Iran’s continued unprecedented, malign and reckless behavior endangers regional stability and the security of U.S. and coalition forces,” CENTCOM said in a post on X
“CENTCOM remains positioned to support Israel’s defense against these dangerous actions by Iran. We will continue to work with all of our regional partners to enhance regional security.”
CENTCOM made the announcement after Iran launched its first attack on Israeli territory on Saturday night in retaliation for an alleged Israeli attack on its embassy in Syria.
The attack involving more than 300 drones and missiles caused only modest damage, as most were shot down by Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system or by the US and its partners.

US President Joe Biden previously praised US forces for their “extraordinary ability” in helping Israel shoot down “almost every incoming drone and missile”.
Biden described US support for Israel’s self-defense as “unyielding” but warned that Washington would not join any retaliatory action taken by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government against Tehran.
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said U.S. forces “remain positioned to protect U.S. troops and partners in the region, provide further support for Israel’s defense, and enhance regional stability.”
The threat of all-out war between Israel and Iran has placed the region on alert, prompting calls for restraint from Middle Eastern neighbors and major powers.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, warned on Sunday that the Middle East was “on the edge”.
“The people of the region face the real danger of a devastating large-scale conflict. Now is the time to calm down and de-escalate,” Guterres said at a UN Security Council meeting called in response to the Iranian attack.
