Israeli forces conduct a series of strikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon as retaliatory strikes intensify.

Iran warned Israel against “large-scale military aggression” in Lebanon and said it would lead to an “internecine war”, the Islamic republic’s mission to the United Nations said.

“All options, [including] the full involvement of all Resistance Fronts is on the table,” the mission wrote in a post on X on Friday night, referring to armed groups aligned with Iran across the region.

He called Israel’s threats to attack Hezbollah in Lebanon “psychological warfare” and “propaganda.”

The border between the two countries has seen daily exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah since the current conflict in Gaza began on October 7. Fears of an all-out war increased this month after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel was preparing for “a very tense operation” on the border with Lebanon.

Israeli forces have conducted a series of attacks against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, an Israeli army spokesman said on Saturday morning.

“In the past few hours, warplanes have attacked several Hezbollah targets, including a Hezbollah military installation in the Zabqin area, two operational infrastructure sites in the Khiam area, and a Hezbollah building in al-Adissa. [Odaisseh] area”, according to the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said his country does not want to wage war against Hezbollah, but that the army is ready to do so.

“We are working on a political solution. That is always the best option,” Gallant said during a visit Friday to troops near Israel’s northern border with Lebanon.

Gallant said this week in the United States that Israel was “preparing for all scenarios.”

“Hezbollah understands very well that we can inflict massive damage on Lebanon if a war is launched,” he said in Washington, DC.

Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah threatened a war “without restrictions, without rules and without limits” in the event of a major Israeli offensive against Lebanon.

Amid rising tensions, several countries, including Germany, Canada, the Netherlands and the United States, have urged their nationals to abandon or avoid traveling to Lebanon.
