Which teams are playing in the Euro 2024 semi-finals? When are the games and who are the favorites? Al Jazeera explains.

After a dramatic quarter-final round that saw hosts Germany and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal eliminated, Euro 2024 enters the semi-final stage with games on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Which teams qualified for the semi-finals?

  • Among the semi-finalists, Spain is the only team with a 100 percent winning record, scoring 11 goals in five games.
  • The Netherlands are the second best offensive team, with nine goals in five games.

When and where will the Euro 2024 semi-finals be?

  • Spain vs France: Tuesday, 9pm local time (7pm GMT), at the Munich Football Arena, Munich
  • Netherlands vs England: Wednesday 9pm local time (7pm GMT) at BVB Stadion in Dortmund

When is the final?

The game will be played on July 14th at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

What happens if a match ends in a draw?

If the match is tied at the end of normal playing time, extra time of two periods of 15 minutes each will be played. If the tie persists, the match will be decided by a penalty shootout.

How much is the prize money?

UEFA, the entity that oversees European football, will pay 331 million euros (360 million dollars) in total prizes to the 24 participants.

The maximum amount a champion team can achieve if they win all three group stage matches is 28.25 million euros ($30.31 million).

Who scored the most goals?

Four players are tied for top scorer with three goals each – Georges Mikautadze (Georgia), Jamal Musiala (Germany), Cody Gakpo (Netherlands) and Ivan Schranz (Slovakia). Among them, only Gakpo will compete in the semifinals.

Eleven players are second on the list with two goals. They include England’s Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham, France’s Kylian Mbappe and Spain’s Dani Olmo.

Spanish midfielder Pedri will miss the rest of the tournament with a knee injury, while Dani Carvajal and Robin Le Normand are suspended for the semi-finals.
