Trump, 78, also accused Harris of misleading the public about Biden’s mental fitness.

Trump’s superlative-laden speech came as Harris, 59, began campaigning as the de facto Democratic nominee after securing the lion’s share of delegates ahead of next month’s national convention.
After weeks of turmoil surrounding Biden’s faltering candidacy, Harris’ rise injected new energy into the race, with donors pledging record contributions and multiple polls showing she improved the president’s performance against Trump.
Harris, however, still trails Trump in most polls conducted since Biden’s departure and faces questions about her appeal among the general electorate after a political career spent mostly in heavily Democratic California.
In a speech that expanded on his reasons for not seeking re-election on Wednesday, Biden, whose age and physical condition have become a growing concern among Democrats, reiterated his support for Harris, praising her as “experienced,” “tough ” is able”. .
“She has been an incredible partner to me and a leader for our country,” Biden said in comments delivered shortly after Trump’s rally ended.
