The de facto Democratic candidate and the Republican candidate are now tied in the race for the White House, polls show.

US Vice President Kamala Harris has erased former President Donald Trump’s lead in the race for the White House, with the Democratic and Republican standard bearers now in a dead heat, newly released polls show.

Harris has closed the gap with Trump both nationwide and in key states since becoming the de facto Democratic nominee following President Joe Biden’s exit from the 2024 presidential race, according to a series of polls released Tuesday. .

Harris is ahead of Trump in four key states, while the former president is ahead in two, according to a Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll of registered voters.

Harris leads Trump in Michigan by 11 percentage points and by two points in Arizona, Wisconsin and Nevada, according to the poll.

Trump has a four-point lead in Pennsylvania and a two-point lead in North Carolina, while the two are tied in Georgia.

With the exception of Michigan and Pennsylvania, all results are within the margin of error.

If the voting results were replicated on election day, the candidate who won Georgia would be elected president.

In a poll commissioned by the super-Democrat PAC Progress Action Fund, Harris leads Trump 48% to 47% in Georgia, with Trump ahead by two points in Arizona and Pennsylvania.

All poll results, first published by The Hill, were within the margin of error.

In a national Reuters/Ipsos poll, Harris leads Trump 43% to 42%, which is within the margin of error.

The string of positive polls comes after Harris quickly consolidated support among Democrats following Biden’s decision to step aside following months of poor polling driven by concerns about her age and physical condition.

Harris, who will be formally named the Democratic nominee on Monday, is expected to announce her running mate just days before embarking on a tour of the swing states that will decide the election on November 5.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, among others, were considered candidates for the vice presidential pick.

During a campaign event in Atlanta, Georgia, on Tuesday, Harris said the momentum of the race was shifting and there were signs that Trump was “feeling it.”

Harris, who has taken aim at Trump’s legal troubles and positions on health care and abortion, challenged her rival to keep her commitment to debate her in September after the Republican said she could “argue” for not attending the meeting. event.

“Well, Donald, I hope you’ll reconsider meeting me on the debate stage,” she said. “Because, as the saying goes, ‘If you have something to say, say it to my face.’”
