Four years after the former Willard High School football coach was arrested on suspicion of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student, a trial date has been set — but not until early 2025.

Magee was placed on administrative leave in early August 2020 following allegations made by a former student.

According to a probable cause statementthe victim told Willard police that he met Magee in the spring of 2008 when she played on the school’s soccer team, and they began exchanging texts and phone calls.

In August and September 2009, the statement says the student went to Magee’s home several times on Saturday mornings while his wife was at work and they performed sexual acts on each other.

The girl was under 17 at the time and could not legally consent to sexual intercourse with an adult. At the time, Magee was more than twice his age.

According to the statement, when confronted with the allegations, Magee confessed. The News-Leader left a message seeking comment from attorney Stuart Huffman, who represents Magee.

Magee, who still lives in Willard, appeared Wednesday before Greene County Judge Jerry Harmison for what was expected to be a pretrial hearing for a jury trial in late August. However, the August 26 trial was postponed for five months.

A new pretrial hearing is scheduled for January 22.
